Decided to remove the charger and other tyre puncture accessories from the spare wheel area and have a actual spare wheel in there.

I found a spare wheel from my garage and threw it in but what I realised is that the spare wheel is too high and my boot carpet is uneven now because of the spare wheel.
Another thing I noticed is that the spare tyre is loose and is sliding back & forth all over in the boot even though I tried to secure it with that belt.

I know its common sense but i just want to make sure...... is the spare tyre too thick (even though it is thinner than normal tyres) and is that why its making my boot uneven. Or is my car made not to have a spare tyre.
Lastly do I need a bigger tyre e.g. 16"/18" to stop it sliding back & forth? When I tried to fit the spare tyre at home when I had a puncture, it was kind of difficult to fit it on the car due to the size of it probably?

Could that be the solution to my spare tyre problems.

Without knowing what mk2 model you have i will tell you what i have :)

i lock my spare tire in with this 1K0 803 899 B, its a part number for a plastic thingy that lock to the bottom of the boot/car frame, it goes in the spare wheels centre piece and lock the tire in.

i drive a 2008 Cupra and have the 18" spare wheel which is very flat tire, if i had a normal width tire in the boot it would make the floor bend like yours.. i guess you need to find a spare tire thats made for your model.
I had a 2007 leon tdi before my cupra which had room for a 16" spare tire.. and that was a normal width tire.. So you might want to measure what width and size tire you need to make it slide in perfectly and the buy the plastic part or something similair to lock the wheel in place! the strap in my car is only for the stuff inside the spare wheel such as lift, air pump and wheel wrench..

i must apologize for my bad english, but i hope you understand where im getting at :)

best of luck :p
