I'm sure that when all cars have electric handbrakes having an armrest in a small car will be okay, it was okay (for me) in my old 2000MY B5 Passat with its normal handbrake, but in my wife's Polo SEL with its normal handbrake even I have been beaten by it. My usual car is an Audi S4 but it has an electric handbrake so the armrest does not block access to the switch.

Turbo lag, coming from a normally aspirated small car (2003MY 9N Polo 1.4), this is my first experience of a turbo charged car and these modern engines seem to be set up to behave like diesels so you can easily get the impression that it is "ready to give some" - but you have let the revs drop too low - really just a re-learning curve I suppose.

Good points these.

Yep I'll be getting a cable from eBay too - do you already own one?

I do have a cable which I purchased from xcar360 last year, however I think I need a newer version of VCDS for the new car (full functionality anyway...) but I'll maybe see what I can do with my existing cable and software first before buying again. Only about £20 tho I suppose...

I've only ever bought the legit version of VCDS - as that comes with free updates, and these cars, if they now have the "6C" version of the BCM will need the latest VCDS updates to include that.

I have my car!! :D
It rained :|

Wow is all I can say. The build quality is so much better than the Ibiza I just gave back. Completely different car! Suspension and ride quality is much improved.

From what I've experienced of the 1.0TSI so far with my granny drive back from the dealers, it pulls very well indeed. Helped a lot by the DSG gearbox which changes gear brilliantly and keeps you in the sweet zone of the torque.

More to come over the next few days with some pics too :)

Glad you like it - that 1.0 is a cracking engine. The build quality is a definite step up and not too far away from the Leon which is great.

Was yours the technology model with CarPlay ?

Yes it's an 'FR Technology' so includes Media System Plus, Navigation and Full Link (inc CarPlay).

I also have SEAT sound which is blooming brilliant compared to the standard system in my old FR. Great clarity in the sound.

How do you find the CarPlay then - I'm an Apple Music subscriber so looking forward to using that in the car.

Great so far. I use Spotify so can only comment on that and it works great! Quite speedy and album artwork faded in the background. Not had chance to try out the text messaging, maps or calling aspect.

Do you have an update on when yours will arrive? We're just waiting for you to get yours now! :D

I know - my thread and everyone else has received theirs in the wait for mine :) To be honest the regular postings of you guys receiving your cars has made the last couple of months easier to bear - love seeing photos and comments on the car.

Well it docked in Newcastle last night - I assume unloaded today and on a transporter over the next couple of days. I'm hoping for early next week.

It's awesome with Apple Music. I love just shouting at Siri whatever song I want and it streaming it. Think I'm gunna have to increase my data allowance! Don't really bother with the maps as the built in sat nav seems to be just as good which I didn't expect in fact nearly didn't bother ordering the sat nav as thought I'd just use apple maps.

I've got a 20GB plan - hope this will suffice !

Quick question for anyone who has theirs...

When I pull up ready to get out of the car, I stick it in park and the start/stop initiates. I then take the key out. Should I do it this way? Seems strange to turn the car off each time when its in start/stop mode?

Should be fine - I always turn off start/stop on every car I've had as it annoys me - might be different with a petrol but found it too jarring in all my diesels.

I always thought the same too. Our Mini Cooper D is very violent when starting from stop start.

This Ibiza is silky smooth. Sometimes I don't even know it's turned off! I can hardly hear the engine as it is!

Can anyone do me a favour and let me know if there is any specific way to turn auto wipers on?

Also, can someone post a picture of their auto dimming rear view mirror? I don't seem to have any sensors on mine at the bottom which I thought you should have??

The auto wipers on my Ibiza are on the first click upwards then I have the option of how often they wipe.
Funny enough I haven't drove at night so haven't tested my rear view mirror but I'm guessing the sensor us built into the mirror itself.
