I thought this issue was consigned to the bin with the different rear suspension on the 184 but i appear to have the old VW issue of the inner edge of the rear tyres developing flat spots. Has anybody else seen this? Comes complete with bearing failure type noise in the car.

The rears have done 40k now so it's not the end of the world to replace them and i'm assuming Seat won't be interested in it as a warranty claim as they aren't particularly interested in my heavily scored rear brake disc.

Seat have looked at the disc twice but say it's fine. Looks ropey to me and a couple of mechanic mates have seen it and said it's not right. Suspect i'll probably end up getting one of them to change it out.

I talked with a tyre shop about this over 3 years ago in relation to a different car and it was commonly known in the trade that high torque diesel engine cars cause a pressure wave as the front end rises under acceleration that dumps the back end down and caused the 50p or 20 p effect on rear tyres. This came up when I asked about tyre rotation and they had found that customers were not happy moving the rear tyres forward as they got vibrations through the steering wheel. The car was a Citroen DS4

I didn't check my tyres when they were taken off, but the noise was there (just the same as my mk2) so I'd guess they were 50p. They did about 45k when I had them swapped, and in fairness they were due replacement based on tread depth anyway.

So I'd say that it is a fault that carried over!
