Thought it might be interesting to see your thoughts, likes and dislikes about your car now you finally have it.

Cupra SC manual box. Monsoon grey no extras.

Might also let others see things they may not be aware of on theirs and gives those still waiting an idea of what they're missing.

Likes

The way it pulls in 3rd and 4th gear.
The single pop when you change gear at high revs (manual gearbox )
The way the wipers drop just out of view when you start the car
The way the stereo volume drops when reversing
It's got cruise control which I never expected. Handy on mways

Dislikes

Keeping the BE wheels clean. The black scratches easily on them.
Too easy to flick the front windscreen washer when turning off the rear wiper
Too easy to flick left indicator on when turning cruise control on.
Cleaning the BE wheels
Not enough turbo whistle for my liking.
Not as involving to drive as my old S2000.
Clutch delay valve.
Did I mention cleaning the BE wheels.....
Thinking I should have paid the extra for dsg but then I have £30 a month more for petrol
Annoying that the seat height adjuster moves the whole seat not just the Base.

I like the idea of this thread, might be worth mentioning what model you have and any optional extras ;)

Sounds ominous
Still waiting for my Cupra 290 BE and I must say I liked the standard wheels better for that fact.... just also liked the look of Bucket seats and what all reviews said about them.
Are the seats that Good?
I'm also getting manual, plenty of popping back on high revs when coasting???

The bucket seats are good but not as good as recaro buckets. I think if you're shorter than 5'6 you will find the side bolsters tickle your armpits

I'm 6'1 so should be fine.
You still glad you didn't hang on for the 300 with new model tweaks?

You'll be waiting another 6 months for it I reckon and I don't think you'll get anywhere near the same deal for it.

All for a few small differences. Not worth waiting for

That the logic I was basing my order on. Yeah there are some nice touches on the new standard car so may well be on the Cupra but probably want top money for the first 12 months of release???
What colour did you go for? Post some Pics when you can mate.

The way it pulls in 3rd and 4th gear. Ohhh yes
The single pop when you change gear at high revs (manual gearbox ) OHHH YES
The way the wipers drop just out of view when you start the car Sounds similar to the current leon's where they go to the side
The way the stereo volume drops when reversing On the mk2 aswell

Clutch delay valve. Heard a lot about this too..

Jonno I treated the wheels to a gtechniq c5 coating in the hope they will be easier to clean in the future. I used a wheel cleaning brush on them which is what lightly scratched the paint. The coating covered the scratches and has hidden them nicely.

Just hope in the future I can just spray wheel cleaner on and jet wash off without using a brush.

Good post. So I'll keep my alloy wheel brush for the car and just use a cloth on the cupra's wheels. Probably just saved me a major rage moment there, cheers.

Sweet. That's my main thinking for this thread. To pass on info to everyone else about what to avoid and what to do to get the best out of the cars

Meant to say other halves car, not 'the car'. Aha.

What do you think about the steering on the motorway? I've seen a few posts of people saying it feels twitchy?

I rarely drive on motorways but it feels rock solid on other roads to me but I came from a car that always felt twitchy when pushing it but in a goody way

OP, should've kept the S2000 for those sunny days-going up in value too, not parting with mine- but on the whole Cupra seems like a good car, looks good too, enjoy.

The S2k has a clutch delay valve too.

Sadly got too many vehicles to keep the S. It was well sorted as well on koni's and mugen bushes. Sold it for £1500 more than I paid for it so happy. And yes the clutch delay valve was on it but not as intrusive as the one on the cupra.
