Hi Guys,

I've seen this feature in other cars but my 2006 Seat Leon FR TDI doesn't have it and was wondering if it's possible to make it do it.

Basically for parking/reversing, when you put the car into reverse gear the side mirrors go down a little (so you can see how close tyre is to curb in order to avoid any scratches etc) and then when you take it out of reverse gear, they go back to the previous position.

Possible or not?

Don't know if you can add it on but for some reason I think this feature is only on cars with electric/memory seats.

At least that's what I've read and what carista says.

Something I fancy myself I find the side visibility when parking not as good as other cars.

I know that's true on older generation cars, as I know a guy that was retro fitting memory seats to a MK4 Golf and in doing that with a module he connected up it added the mirror dipping feature.

I wonder if it's possible through a VAGCOM/Ross-tech software mod, I wonder because I found the following info on another site:

Enabling reverse mirror tilt on cars without memory seats: Go to module 52 Door Elect, Pass., Long Coding, Byte 4. If the byte has value 40 (cars without electrically folding mirrors), change it to 4C. If the byte has value 50 (cars with folding or folding/dimming mirrors), change it to 5C. Afterwards when reversing and the mirror knob is in passenger position the passenger side mirror will tilt while on reverse to better show the curb. Without memory seats it is currently not known if the tilt can be adjusted, it seems to default to a standard amount according to reports (see links below, thanks to EuroDan and Unisurfer). It was reported by -V- that 4C won't work in some cars, but value 44 instead does. This probably has to do with equipment levels. Ross-Tech has updated their VCDS/VAG-COM software data to include relevant bits with descriptions, so you can more easily try different combinations.

Not sure if Leon has the same or not as I dont have any diagnostic tools to try out

Well in the carista app (which is basically sending vag-com commands as far as I'm aware) on my 2012 car it won't let me enable it as it says requires memory seats.

Maybe possible with proper full on vag-com... Be awesome if possible

Yep, if not, I think I will mod my own car to do it by adding in some hardware/software, shouldn't be too hard to do, I have an older Leon mk1 as well as a mk2 so I'll try it out on the mk1 first, and then do the mk2 if it works.

I know its an option in VCDS but I've never heard of anyone having it.

Someone more experienced on VCDS will be able to tell you though.

... how do I do this!?

Mirror tilt on reverse gear can be implemented hardware on Altea / Leon with another calculator type door (3rd gen), another mirror little engine and wiring engine computer at the door.

or you can choose the easy way: polarFIS advanced pf03 ;)

And you don't need memory seats? What's polarfis?

Is it the thing where you can put extra monitor stuff in the mfd?
