I think the horn is near axle on the front passenger side. I have heard that it points forward and thus gathers water - if you reverse the direction it faces you should be able to avoid it getting wet. I too had an intermittent horn depending on water conditions.

Jack the car up and you might be able to get to it from underneath ;)

Hi all.
Sorry to cut in but the horn on the LCR Ijust bought sounds like the beep on Noddy's car.
Pathetic. Something must be wrong. Any ideas?

Maybe the old one stopped working and someone has slapped on a cheap replacement just to pass the MOT. Will be loads of 2nd hand ones on ebay

Ok thanks for that.
Could it have been damaged in a front end collision near side?
Tell tale sign that quarter had been resprayed but not definite.

So it looks like my car had work to near side quarter.
I think the horn has been reversed when put back together. Would explain the weak beep!

Horns are indeed behind the n/s front bumper, and a nearside quarter collision will have affected them.

Here's a few pics from the time I took the front bumper off my Toledo Mk.2 TDI to fix a radiator leak.

From the front, showing the horn locations.

Thanks for that. Bumper coming off to fit new headlights soon, so I'll get to the heart of the problem.
