Hi, so I have the dreaded door lock module and window regulator to fix which I'm in the middle of but hit a problem...

The door lock module I purchased on Ebay has 9 pins when on removing the current one it has 8 pins and the connector doesn't fit the new one.

The problem is I cant seem to find one with 8 pins and based on the REG etc the 9 pin unit seems to be the one available for the car - has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks for any input

Hi Onpoint,

I've done the regulator on both front doors recently and it's worked just fine. The door lock on the drivers door has had an intermittent fault which only rears its head in the summer when its hot. It will open with the key in the lock but only intermittently with the remote fob.

Is this the same issue you are having or is it different? Today for the first time the window wouldnt open or shut for 30 minutes and I wondered if the problem is spreading?

Hi SeatJay,

Thanks for your input. I managed to replace the regulator in the end yesterday having hit a few snags along the way... The window is now fixed.

However I also had an issue of the door module/actuator/lock needing replacing as when the weather gets colder it tends to stop working/opening (from inside or out) and being the passenger side it has no key hole so basically gets stuck closed for 10 months of the year.

So the problem I'm having is finding the part, all the suggested parts on ebay have a 9 pin connecter, having bought that, and removed the current one I've found mine is 8 pins and a different shape.

There doesn't seem to be the correct one available although I've found a 8 pin that says will fit a Leon to 2006 model, so I'm thinking about taking a punt on that.

Anyone else changed the door lock on an Altea 06?

If anyone else has this issue in future the part you need is:

PART NUMBER: 1P2837015

Although I can only seem to find used parts for this.

Hi Onpoint,

What model is your altea mine is a 2006 2lt tdi sport does it sound like the same thing? Also what were the symptoms of your issue? Mine is that the door only has issues in the summer and won't unluck with the remote. It will however unlock fine with the central lock button in the car and also key in the lock.

Hi SeatJay,

Mine is 2006 1.9tdi. Mine tends to only work in the summer and stops working when it gets cold/rains. What happens is the lights stop flashing when unlocked via the remote, all doors except the front passenger open. It won't open inside or out.

I think probably some water ingress causing the electrics in the door to fail but hopefully that should stop now I've fixed the window regulator.

It's currently working fine (maybe a good time to change it while the door will actually open) and better than before I fixed the window as it used to take a few locks and unlocks to get the door to open from the outside but now opening straight away.

So I guess I'll find out soon enough if it stops working again.

Funny mine is the complete opposite in terms of timing. Yesterday for the first time my window just didnt want to close. When the car cooled down I was eventually able to do it on the remote. The other thing is my door is the drivers and it always opens with the key in the lock just not always with the remote.

Have you tried changing your door lock on that door?

Yeah I was thinking the same, at least yours probably works most of the year where as mine works for about a month of hot weather...

Might be worth running a error scan to see if problem with the door module/lock, seems to be a common intermittent fault. If you're lucky and don't have an 8 pin lock like mine you can pick up a new lock off eBay for £20.

Pretty easy to swap out, it maybe possible to do without removing the entire door card just the first part with the handle.
