Apr revo or others

Are Apr and revo top brand names or is your local tuner specialist just as good so what's the difference between them all?

I would say Apr are the best in my opinion I have just had my seat cupra 280 remapped by awesome gti with the new stage 2 file and Dsg tune car made 395 bhp and 390 torque on medium torque file.To say the car feels better than my last tune is a huge understatement so smooth but pulls like a bugger. there is 20% off there software at the moment. the service you get from awesome gti is also worth considering as they are really professional and friendly.

I went for Revo stage 1 High boost setting,I prefer Revo just my preferences having used it befor, but I would say in all honesty there's nothing between APR and Revo but i do think APR have had the DSG map out longer and it has a few more settings to play with.

My ford focus MK 2 was Revo Stage 4.5 and It was a beast never any problems.

APR speacialse in VAG group only (porsche)
Revo speacialse in VAG and Ford

I don't trust other mappers there might be some good ones out there but there are some absolute shite ones out there, that will dyno run the car with strap tensions stupidly tight and over inflate tyre pressure to give better than normal results with out road or track testing the customs map.

People will say "I don't want a generic map" which is funny because the car is generic.

And I don't believe Dandy Dan from down the road at magic mappers has the money to buy or lease or borrow each release of perfromance car and tests it on tracks and roads for many hours on end.

My advice if your manual go Revo as there are a few of us here running it.
If your DSG go APR as there are equally as many on here.

But here's my wheel hub based dyno on Stage 1 Revo high boost (which I recommend you get an uprated Sachs perforce racing clutch for)

^^^ plus one, I am also a revo stage one user and very happy. Apr are very good as well and be happy to recommend them but prefer both of these to the other options.

However there are a lot of guys on this forum who have DTUK / BSR etc and are very happy with them.

For me like KANE7 said they both do a lot testing and don't over do it.
I would also agree with rozer1974 awesome gti offer a very good service for whatever you are doing to your car.

Why would you be interested in a Dtuk box out of interest this always interests me.

The oldboy mentioned it not me in only just getting in to tuning and I only ask if anyone had fitted one to a 290 and are they any good as I don't no much about them

If your going for out right performance a box that sits as the middleman inbetween the ECU and engine giving the ECU false data and false engine readings on low fuel pressure which in turn forces the car to pump more in than it thinks it is, is never gonna out perform a FULL software re right of the ECU.

Don't waste your money there only ever good option if you own a car thays pre 2000 where you can't altar the software on the car with out physically removing ecu.

So boxes are crap then I'll stick with Apr as I've got a dsg and a bigger turbo inlet and panel filter and new engine mounts and what dose a turbo delet valve do ????

It would be interesting to compare a few different maps on track, I'm very pleased with the Performance Torque map so far, so it would be interesting to see the comparison. I will be booking Oulton Park later in the year so I will post up when I'm going, it would be great to get a few Cupras on track and there are several locals with different maps...

But tbf the only fair analysis of the map across the board on cars would have to have the same variables I.E driver experience and the most important for track racing Tyres.

Yes, it's never going to be that valid, more just interesting...

I'm going to confirm dates over the next few weeks as I'm coordinating with a few others, I will post as soon as I do.

As a sidebar, would there be any interest in organising a NW / Cheshire RR day at somewhere independent? I'm sure some of the SXOC guys would come too
