SC Door RATTLES!!!!

Hey folks,

The door rattles are becoming unbearable in my car!

It's been to the dealer twice but they keep coming back. A new 'hollow knocking' noise has developed in the very same door the dealer 'fixed'

I've got a few days off coming up so would like to tackle the problem myself so I know it's done completely and properly.

I'm hoping some of you guys have a simpletons guide to remove the door cards as I'll be ordering some of that soundproofing stuff whilst I'm at it.

I'm at the point of drilling a small hole in the door and pumping an aerosol of expanding foam in it

I have a rattle progressively getting louder in my front left door.. And a tiny one in my door....
I too am collecting together soundproofing, acoustic foam/sponge and replacement door clips(as they always break) so I too can sort this out once and for all....
I know your frustration....

I agree. The car looks and drives great, but cheap bad fitting plastics spoils it..

I must have been lucky I have a 2014 Cupra 5 dr and no problems just lots of fun.

You're a luck lad. I'm sure I've read previous that it is the 3 door SC that suffers from this problem.

I used to have a 5 door FR184 and it was rattle free. Raging at the quality of the 3 door!

I'm gonna have to put up with it until next month now. Just had to take my 2 dogs to vets for there annual vaccination jabs and to groomers.... . Plus I have just done a major service on mine......
But next month I am going to town on those front doors...

Just an FYI, I will still be removing door cards next month but I found and did this in meantime.

I glued some thin bits of foam behind the boot release handle and seat raise/lower handle.

In doing so this has cured a shed load of rattling.

Not sure if it'll do anything for you but it wouldn't hurt to look... Maybe wedge some cardboard in there for a few days to see if there any improvements....
