Fog light problem

Hey guys, I went to change my fog light bulbs earlier to LED, went to turn on fogs and they dont work. Tried switching around the bulb connections but still nothing. I then went back to install the original bulbs and only one is working now. I recently got fogs wired in and the guy who wired them hard wired them to the battery so they come on and stay on with dip lights and headlights. Any idea what it could be? I've already checked the fuse and switched the bulbs around incase the bulb was bad. Also when they were put in one side was brighter than the other, could it be problem with the new wiring?

Well that's a smart move being one of those annoying and dangerous drivers with fogs blazing all the time.

Why not take the time to wire them in properly even if that means installing a separate switch into the dash so you can control when you need them on.

I would firstly check the bulbs using test leads to assure yourself they are indeed good. If they go wrong when putting them back into the holder then you know that it must be a connection issue which you can check using a multimeter for current flow and continuity.

I had the switch and everything ready to go but when I arrived to pick the car up he told me he wired it in that way which is what I wasn't expecting. I was expecting them to be done the way they would be from factory but obviously not. The switch I had got from the scrapyard was faulty so he used the original switch and hard wired the fog lights to the battery thats what I was told. I'm not happy about it either so the question is how hard would it be to wire them in properly from what I have now (hard wired to the battery). I'll have to go and get another switch from the scrapyard too.

So I brought it to an auto electrician and he said the job was wired badly by the looks of it and he said it would take a good bit of work to wire them in factory style and it would have to be reprogrammed for fogs? Can anybody clear this up for me, is it straight forward to wire them in the way they should be? The car didn't come with fogs so I bought the fogs, surrounds and the interior switch set up for fog lights but the switch I got was broke so the guy who wired them wired them on constantly with dipped and headlights using the original light switch in the car.

My thinking is you have rear fogs already and controlled from the light switch.

Run wiring from the new front fogs and splice into that for the rears.

LEDs have very low power demands so shouldn't stress the fuse etc on that circuit.

Could you tell me how the original fogs work, do the rear fogs and front fogs come on together? Or can you control which one you want

Both on when you pull the dial switch out.

Should be two stages of pull-out on the switch - fronts only first then fronts & rears

Or that... never checked and rarely use them. Edit: and found my fronts are not working. Another job!

So either wire to the relevant pins on the switch or have it on the same pull. Either way would be better than your current arrangement.
