My old merc 30+ years ago required the brake pedal depressed before it would start, snow seems like a poor excuse for this mod, I sit in the car sideways and bang my feet together to clear my boots of snow before getting, or, use rubber mats in winter, the heater will dry them out on the journey?

Point taken.... But whether or not anyone thinks it is necessary or morally correct is irrelevant. I'm interested in it being possible.

I also removed the seatbelt warning buzzer and the open door ignition buzzer - im a bad boy... :)

Can we discuss the technical solution to this and start another thread for those with moral panic SJW issues?

Take any 20 year old car with automatic gearbox and it can be fired up without applying the brake, no kids got run over then.

They had park and neutral interlocks. So no, they couldn't be started in drive or reverse.

My 10 years Audi with DSG do not need brake press to start. This is by default and without any modification. It have same DSG as new Cupra(DQ250) so there is not mehanical difference...

I do same, sit in car sideway and outside bang feet together, but I will when I receive Cupra need to do this twice instead once(Once for start car and second before drive)... In my everyday jurney it do not dry(2x 5-10km) ...

Non DSG cars need to press clutch to start car and solution to override this cluch press pedal is already availible and used by a lot users and is dangerous thing because is more posibility that user mistake(Leave car in gear) will be done as techincal malfunction will be made(DSG will not be locked)...

So lets talk about techincal solutions... I think that there is option to override this requirement... But to test and develope solution for that I will need wait 6 months to receive my car...

Yeah, i assume that there is not a mechanical restrcition - purely software. Its just wether this is part of the cars system that can be modified (unlike the odometer which is software based but completely off limits in OBDeleven, etc for obvious reasons!)

That wasn't what I wrote. Gear in park and it could be started without brake. Full comfort, no risk for accidents. Not then, wouldn't be now.
