My nearly 4y old Seat Leon ST starts to randomly change the volume of playback.
During 1min it change the volume 30x, really each 2s a change. It looks like somebody is still changing volume up or down, but it isn't. Board computer shows volume indicator changing as well.
No matter if it's Bluetooth playback, radio or SD card.

Any idea what it can be? Is head unit replacement needed? Or maybe volume changer on the steering wheel is dirty, like old optical PC mouses? Ideas how to clean it?
I tried factory settings, did not help.

Maybe you need to check if the speed sensitive volume is playing up? Does it only get louder when you accelerate?

No, it is happening when parked as well. Volume is changing randomly up and down..

There is a ghost in your car!

P.S. perhaps dirt in potentiometer, I think some alcohol based cleaner can help. check on internet how to clean the potentiometer.

I'm sorry, it was a bit oldschool stuff. I don't think that is potentiometer in SEAT. Because it does not increase/decrease the resistance. It's just a rotary knob. Which sends the command to adjust volume.

However the cleaning steps should not differ much. Just put some alcohol from the side of knob and rotate it coupler of time so that it cleans the moving contacts.

I dont think i'd advise pouring alcohol into the volume knob.

Have you done a scan with vcds, carista or OBDeleven to see if anything has issues?

I assume you've checked for any updates to your stereo although I doubt firmware is stop this but you never know lol.

Also might be worth getting some canned air to clear out any dust/rubbish (make sure the stereo is off first) and give the steering wheels controls a little bit of a man handle incase something is behind them as well.

Does the volume go more up or more down from what you've seen? I wonder if you can disable the steering wheels control in vcds to see if that stops it so you know which bit is dodgy.
