Hi

Just picked up a 2018 Leon FR and noticed that I have both front and rear daytime running lights.

Is this standard now to have the rears on?

Had a look but can't find an answer online.

Thanks

It seems that 2018 models at least come with this as mine did. It can be turned off via OBDeleven if you wish and if you don’t know what that is then have a good search on these forums there is a lot of bedtime reading available!

Yeah, it's now standard on the facelift cars.

Nice one. I’ve been watching other facelift cars on the motorway and come to the conclusion that mine must have them. I quite like them!

In my old pre-facelift Leon I used to like driving around with the sidelights on just so the taillights would come on, I think they look really cool. I ove that they’re always on on my facelift!

The thing I object to is the brake lights remain on with the electric handbrake function.this means that you are dazzling the car behind at a junction. Not like the old manual handbrake where only when you had a foot on the brake pedal the brake lights were on.

This really annoys me too, especially as traffic lights when you wait a long time. Seems silly to have them on when the green ‘P’ symbol comes up on the dash. Must be a way to disable them? Not sure if other cars with electronic handbrakes do the same?

Thanks for the answers.
I have just come out of a mazda with front DRL's. When the handbrake went on the lights went off.
I have noticed there is an app on the OBDeleven to turn them off when handbrake is applied.

yes it does but from memory it only works whwn light switch on auto

Presumably when the handbrake is automatically applied (green symbol on dash) the rear stop lights still illuminate even though DRL’s are not?

sorry @Jim45 was out in the garden, on my car (pre facelift with non standard light settings)

If in Auto nothing happens, When dial is on 0 and the handbrake is applied both front and rear DRL's are turned off.
However just checked and brake lights still work when I put my foot on it.

I get the same experience with obd11 coding set to turn off DRL's with handbrake on my pfl mk3

....but are the rear brake lights on when foot off the brake & Auto handbrake applied?

EDIT: yes they are on my Facelift, a nuisance we need to code out.

this is what I did with mine

outer sides on as DRL's which dim when you indicate and all the lights come on when you brake

Looks great.
Have you the code to do this ?
I may try it out sometime.

Just the opposite at least on Facelift, the DRL switch off only works when light switch set to ‘O’ , stay illuminated when in Auto.
