I made a bit of a mess of the bit around the mirror knob and the switches. It’s a bit fiddly. Still first attempt not too bad.

Oooo, that's nice! I also like the doorhandles... could do with doing that to mine as the handles are full of scratches (from passengers clinging on I would imagine).

Its much easier than I expected, the door handles have gone pretty well the switches is awkward as the knob for the mirrors and the cigar lighter dont come out so you kinda have to carefully cut around them... on chopped off part of 2 fingers so it feels like a victory.

. I'm usually pretty good and will slice, dice and lever heavy and sharp parts without injury. Then cut my finger putting the tools back in the box (which I did again Sunday!).

Im the opposite I rise from under the car like an extra from the walking dead... no need to put the tools away as they have been thrown far and wide for being rubbish lol.

Only remain calm when detailing really, which is good as I have JCW Mini Cooper S to detail in a couple of weeks.

It’s that time of year when maintenance washes are the order of the day...

Simple but satisfying mod today, a battery case arrived.

Not sure you have to remove the battery but I did have to disconnect it so I figured it was easier, it’s in 3 parts and just clips in.

Notice on the above I have the cables wrongly routed, the actually go on the inside and then off to the right.

You can see the correct cable routing on the above image.

As much for my own benefit I wanted to revisit what the original plans were and see where I am up to and update with new ideas..

Completed
  • Lowering using Eibach Sportlines - Done
  • Anti roll bar upgrade - Done (albeit waiting to be fitted)
  • Anti Lift Kit - Done (albeit waiting to be fitted)
  • Cloth Battery case replaced with plastic cover
  • New stereo installed
  • Replaced ABS sensor and wheel bearing (clearly not part of the plan but hey ho)
  • Milltek cat back exhaust
  • Wheels powder coated
Waiting
  • Darkside Turbo upgrade (220 bhp)
  • Upgraded intercooler and pipes
  • Upgraded injectors
  • Upgraded clutch
  • CSR Front Splitter
  • Darkside Turbo induction kit
  • CUPRA brake upgrade
  • Replace blue bits in engine bay with black ;)
Okay, so the list of "to-do's" keeps growing... but that means in doing it right, right?

Looking at it Im going to try and fit the rear ARB next week and the ALK as well, saving me about £200 if all goes well. Then I can put that towards the Darkside stuff. Really keen to get the turbo and Induction kit fitted ASAP.

Hopefully the clutch will be fine but I am prepared if it needs upgrading so putting some money aside for that at the moment in case.

I think if I can get through that waiting list then it'll be pretty nice and will surprise quite a lot of more expensive cars... then I can also get it on track for some fun!

Ooo, I can imagine your excitement.

Where you getting the Cupra brakes from? I'm not 100% sure, but I may have my old ones in a box outside. Just keep in mind the red catches the sun a lot on these and they tend to fade to pink. So they'd prob need a respray!

Edited: When I say outside, I don't milk in a milk crate by the back door. LOL. I have a "part" shed where I store my car parts, tyres, wheels, etc for winter.

I have not yet given too much thought to where they would come from. However if there is a set going and we can agree a price id be interested. I would likely get them fully refurbed anyway whether they have been in a chicken coop or not! lol

CUPRA calipers have been sourced, many thanks to @Legojon. Really appreciate it, added bonus is meeting up with him at some point and seeing his CUPRA again.

Once I get them they’ll be off for a full refurb before they go on the car.

Gotta love this forum. It’s mint.

What colour you going for? Some of the refurb places I've seen will also do decals (under the clear coat I think / hope).

That's called a stable isn't it ?

With a crate of cider and a portable telly, it's a safe haven from the mrs! Although the roofs a bit low. I thought I'd broke my shoulder when I stood up today after "checking" the inventory.

Not 100% sure on the colour, I’ll probably end up sticking with red and getting SEAT added to them. Like you say most places do it under the clear coat which is perfect.
