Hi just about to upgrade my cd player. I have a 2006 MK2 I've been told I need an interface due to battery drain.
Would this be the correct item

Could be wrong. But don't think so. It was some kind of canbus upgrade module.

Sorry I can't be more help. But I'm in the same boat. Got a 2006 Leon with the bog standard cd player. But can't upgrade it till the canbus is upgraded.

Interesting... I upgraded mine and didn’t have a canbus upgrade model thingy and lines been fine? Mines a 2007.

I think 2007 was 50 50 if it was bad or not... My 57 plate leon didnt have the issue

I do. I used the connects2 interface to keep them working.

I very much doubt the seller will know about the pre facelift leon battery drain issue, did you look at the post I put up earlier? Or here for your reading needs..

It describes the can bus upgrades you should need for your car... All be it untested it gets you down a little further.

That's what I've read too.

Mine doesn't have steering wheel controls. But. You can try an experiment. Plug something like your phone into the 12v socket with the keys out of the ignition. On mine, anything I leave connected (dashcam, phone charger), remains powered when I lock the car up.

This being the issue. Ignition live is controlled by the module. So it doesn't know to eg sleep the radio. Hence the battery drain issue.

The solution is more complex and requires the canbus physically upgrading and coded in. Which is why I haven't upgraded my stereo yet.

That’s interesting... looks like I’ve got lucky as mine turns everything off (like the lighter socket). Good to know though.

I put a rns 315 in and I don’t get battery drain, it’s a right pain to find the canbus and upgrade it so I haven’t bothered just means steering controls don’t work
