Is rocker cover connected to timing belt?

hi all,
Having problem trying to remove rocker cover. I have undone all bolts but it won’t budge near the side of the timing belt, when I wiggle it it looks like it’s connected to the belts.. anyone have ideas on this?

Can't really see from the picture.. did you pop out the spark plugs? I forgot one time doing valve cover hahah

On the 1.4/1.6, from what I can see on OEMEPC.com it looks like the cams run directly in that top cover. Its not just a cam cover - it's the cam carrier.
Did you find that the "free end" of the cover has probably sprung up due to valve spring pressure?

Thanks for the replies, yes you were right it was a cam carrier! So I've put the cover back on.
The reason I was wanting to look into the valve cover was oil on the spark plugs, but after trying to remove the cam cover the engine is making a ticking/tapping noise I don't think its timing belt related as didn't move it around too much. Have I disturbed a cam or something?
I ran a engine cleaner through it, changed oil and oil filter and went for a little drive hoping it was debris or something in the up lifters but I still have the noise.
Any ideas on what I've done? Any suggestions appreciated.

Here's a video I made to show someone a new noise it was making after driving it, but in the background you can here the engine "tapping" noise (p.s If you know what the other noise with the connector is that is welcome too! ((its right by the window washer fluid))

Hard to know about the engine sound, i'm not sure about how the 1.6 should sound. The clicky valve in the video that you unplugged is the top of the carbon canister. The valve itself is called the 'N80 valve' by VW/SEAT. It draws fuel vapour from the fuel tank and vents it back into the inlet under certain conditions. I will make that clicky noise while it is operating, i would leave it plugged in, it may simply have a big build up of vapour to vent or is running some sort of test cycle and will stop clicking after a while. If it doesn't stop then it will probably need replacing.
