2 problems with my 08 SEAT Ibiza Sportrider 1.4

Hey guys. Read this forum a dozen times as I Google various things to do with my car, which I bought about 5-6 weeks ago. Finally needed to register to get my specific issues in one place and hopefully a kind and knowledge person or 2 can help.

I'll try to not make this an essay.

1) Cigarette lighter just doesn't work. As I said I've read here a bit so I've checked the fuses, replaced, I'm sure it's not that. There's no 5p down there. It doesn't light up. Doesn't seem to provide any power or do anything at all. I'm not sure what the next step is? (If there's any, other than going to a mechanic.)

2) Battery drain. I am an infrequent driver. I'll drive it 2-3 weeks per week. Twice in my owning I've gone to drive and the battery is dead. I've checked the boot light, that's not it. I noticed on Thurs, when it happened last, that when I took the key out of the ignition (after not being able to start), the radio still played? I had to push the button in to get it off. I've never previously pushed it off when leaving the car. There's no lights left on or any other obvious things. The battery was brand new in December. Again, any logical steps I can take here? (Thinking about ordering a battery tester. The 1st time it happened a month ago I did order a voltage checker that plugs into the cig lighter, ofc that's not gonna work when it finally arrives.)

I read about the BCM S/W update/patch. Maybe it's that. I'm hoping it's the radio, but that seems like a shot in the dark. I have a miles tracker for insurance plugged in the OBD2 which I've been assured can't possibly be causing it. I am going to pay close attention to it every day I don't drive now, but I'd like to do as much as I can before resorting to a mechanic.

Appreciate any and all tips! I'm technical but not mechanical. :)

You really do need to check what the battery drain current is, check it just after switching ignition off then 20 minutes later, it should have dropped back to maybe 50 milli amps. To do that correctly you really do need to be smart and do this in a way that does not cause any of the sleeping controllers to waken up or you will get a duff reading.

I'd be unplugging the radio as well until this is sorted out as you do know that it has been able to stay on after the ignition key has been removed.

Also as said, you need to be in a position to able to check the battery's charge state and that the charging system is working well, if any or all of this is out with your ability, then head off for professional help.

Have you checked to see if the cig lighter is plugged in mine did not work found it was not plugged in as for the battery drain check out YouTube there is a good video on there showing how to check for a battery drain and all you need is a multi meter
