rear brake caliper piston boot(seal)

went to change my rear disc and pads and noticed on the passenger side the seal around the piston is out around the caliper side of the seal

so question is, how hard is it to reseat the boot?


any help would be great
don't want the problem getting worse. the seal doesn't seem to be split, doesnt mean its not mind

You have to remove the piston and then put the dust cover over the piston and slide it down the base of the piston and then push the dust cover into the groove the the piston goes in then you can seat the piston into the caliper and then wind it back in all the way. You’ll have to bleed the brakes after.
This is the way I do it however the only times I’ve done this is when I’m rebuilding the caliper using new parts. But the process is the same.

Yes mate either that or take the cable off the hand brake arm and use a spanner on the nut to swing the hand brake mech on the caliper the piston will plop right out. Have you got a wind back tool tho?

it came with a left hand and right hand
so clock and anti clock

Also before you do anything just try to undo the bleed nipple on the caliper make sure you can undo it for when you have to bleed it. I’ve made this mistake before and rebuilt the caliper only to find the bleed nipple stripped it’s threads

I had have change my brake pads and discs but unfortunately there is a rip in the rear caliper boot.
Im looking at rebuilding the rear caliper, so many sites say that certain parts for certain cars fit but never do.

Does anyone know if the rear kits are the same for older and new seats are the same I have a ibiza 2019 115 fr.
