That usually happens with all new models mate. In the past I have had to take the dealer 5/7 day insurance and hopefully on the last day you can get a quote. Aviva are pretty good, sometimes.

I checked comparison websites and a few insurers and none of them had the car on the list. I did quote for Cupra Ateca which is in group 32, to estimate cost for Formentor. According to documentation, it's in group 28, so should be cheaper to insure. Ateca itself was showing as cheap to insure. I hope Formentor will be in all systems by the time I collect it.

Hi.
Please feel free to give us a try for insurance if you wish.
We have the facility to insurer vehicles before they appear on the vehicle databases.
Regards,
Dan.

Admiral Group added Formentor to their list and now it's possible to get quotes from number of firms under this umbrella. I tried Seat Insurance to get an online quote, but they don't have Cupra on a list at all and no Formentor under Seat. I tried reg plate of demo car and it wasn't recognised by their system either.

It's good to see, that insurance for Formentor is 40% cheaper than for my last few cars.

My wife was with Aviva, they could not cover the car yet. Seat insurance was competitive but got a deal with Admiral instead. Actually slightly cheaper than her 1.4 Tiguan Allspace somehow.

I also used Admiral via the Meerkats site as Aviva had never heard of it. Good deal too...half the price of my 4 year old BMW 335D it replaced!

Where you part way through your insurance , if so, did they give you full no claims for the year?

I was 11 months in..renewal due end of Dec, so they gave me a month refund and the full no claims as it was their fault they couldn't insure it

Great, I'm only 4 months in and with Hastings, looking online they don't have it listed. Soon see, next week hopefully ?
Like the car??

I do like it...though there are a few things...the indicators feel a little flimsy and cheap for my liking and the infotainment system probably needs a few software upgrades (it took forever to register my profile, then it keeps logging me out or disabling the services). The app is completely useless though...it currently says my car is moving and the doors are open....I can see it from here and neither are true.
Performance wise I haven't put it through its paces yet as driving it in a little first but it is very different to all the torque and power the 335 produced

I was sorting out insurance for Formentor today. I synchronised collection date with renewal of existing policy with Admiral.

Renewal for my Abarth 124 with 11NCD protected, 8K miles, business use 1000 miles, £250 + £100 excess, legal cover came at £420. I converted policy to multi-car from renewal date. Got around £90 discount for that, so cost to insure Abarth went down to £327.

Formentor VZ2 was additional £332, 13NCD protected, 8K miles, business use 1000 miles, £250 + £60 excess, legal cover. Compulsory excess is lower on Cupra than on Abarth, increasing voluntary excess by £100 decreased policy cost only by £5, so I didn't bother to change it to £350 +£60. Keeping business use also made both policies cheaper by £16 and £9.

I'm quite happy with the total cost of £659 , since I previously paid around £1200 for Abarth + Audi A8 or SLK55 + Audi A8/S8.

When I did quotes online, cheapest price for Cupra was around £450 with Aviva and £456 with Admiral. I don't know how it works, but it's always cheapest for me to call Admiral, negotiate and get the best price. I'm with them since 2012 and never found cheaper/better policy.

There was no issue with car not being registered yet, it was chosen by model and then I added reg plate given by dealer.

Im with Admiral too and the insurance from my 2017 Leon Cupra 300 to 2021 Cupra Formentor VZ2 returned my £16 in my pocket.

Always found Admirals automatic quotation to be laughable but a quick call to them usually ends up with me paying less than the previous years premium.

I've normally got both my vehicles through Direct Line, but their quote on the Formentor was sky high, so i've taken a look elsewhere.

Admiral were good, but once the additional items (Business Cover, NCB protection, Personal Legal Cover & Low excess) were added, they were also expensive. (£550-ish).

For me Aviva appear to have come up trumps this time. Moving from a 14 year old Honda CRV to the Formentor has only cost +£80, which I am very happy with - that includes all of the ancillary cover listed above.

Might be worth a check for others - particularly as Aviva don't come up on the comparison sites and do have the Formentor explicitly listed on their site now.

I just did a quick comparison and I had some decent results:

I am 33 with 16 years NCB and mine came back at £327 for the year.

Insurance prices are at a real low at the minute. Some money advisors are even recommending to cancel existing policies and requote. As you can save money. I swapped my admiral policy on my 2019 audi a6 to vz2, and got money back too.
