V2 - Difference between sport profile and sport mode

So, got myself a 1.5 V2, and just wondered what happens between sport profile mode, and flicking the gear leaver into sport mode

One thing that bugs me, is if you just put the gear leaver into sport mode, it does not auto change the driver profile into sport mode, so it got me thinking .... does just moving the gear lever into sport mode, engage all sport mode function (as in tighten steering etc), but not the colour lighting

On the flip side, leaving the driver profile in Sport mode, but not the gear lever in sport mode, is that just changing the lighting, and even though showing D on the dash, is it in sport (S) mode or not

I drive the VZ310 so maybe not all of this applies.

There is a driving mode and gearbox mode.

From what I can tell, gearbox mode ONLY changes when does the car shift. Being in S/Sport gearbox means the car holds the revs at about 2500 or so, and allows the car to rev up high if you are hard on the throttle. It does not affect any other aspect of the car.

Driving mode (in my car, Comfort, Sport, Cupra, Offroad) change different settings on the car, on the VZ you have dynamic chassis control so the suspension is firmer when driving in a more sporty mode. Same happens with the wheel, when in a sportier mode, the wheel is "heavier".
I think all of this is done when moving to a sportier mode:

• Firmer suspension
• Heavier steering
• Throttle response quicker
• Sound increased (in VZ it opens the exhaust flaps and allows pops and bangs, also starts using fake sound)
• ACC / cruise control is more aggressive in acceleration when space opens
• When moving from comfort to sportier mode, car changes gearbox mode to S/sport

Maybe I missed some of them.

As when I am in Sport Driver Profile, the dash still displays D in terms of the gearbox mode

Once the dash shows "D", if you pull down on the gear selector, it will change to S1/2/3/4 etc depending on the gear. Once in "S" you will find it revs higher before shifting.

To be honest, mine varies and I wonder if it remembers the last setting (whether D or S) you had in Sport mode... as I have switched to Sport/Cupra and sometimes it is in D and sometimes S.

On a VZ310 it definitely does the following.

• If you are in Comfort mode and move to Sport/Cupra mode - car will change the driving mode icon and it will change gearbox to S. This will be visible on the dash with S1/S2, ... Both of these are visible on the dash.
• If you are in Cupra/Sport mode and move to Comfort - car will change gearbox to D. This will be visible on the dash as well.

Also
If you shut down your car in Cupra/Sport and gearbox in S, when starting the car the car will show Cupra/Sport driving mode but it will show (and be) in a D gearbox mode. The icon on the dash that shows Cupra/Sport is probably wrong, or it is not fully applied as in that case the flaps remained closed (and no pops and bangs). But if you change to another mode (like move to Comfort and back to Cupra) then the flaps will open and other settings apply.


I think I've talked about this with someone who owns a hybrid and their car also exhibited strange behaviour regarding gearbox selector. Not sure if they changed this on newer cars or just non VZ310 models.

i have read the above but still doesn’t look like it clarifies the OP’s question.

So is there any difference on the 1.5. v1/v2 auto models pulling the level to Sport or selecting Sport Driver Profile? I dont think there is any difference other than the later gear changes.

The steering on the motorway is the biggest negative for me with this car, as i find it almost dangerously light for motorway speeds.
