My ABS pump is sticking and keeping the brakes stuck on. Not sure if its the actual pump or the control module but going to replace both anyway for piece of mind.

If I replace the control module will it need reprogramming or is it just a straight forward swap? If it needs reprogramming, can any half decent machine do it or does it need specialist such as VCDS?

There are many more 'cheaper' reasons your brakes can stick on that you should investigate before you look at changing your ABS module!
First check:
Pads can bind/seize in the caliper carrier.
Caliper slide pins can seize.
Caliper pistons can seize.
Brake hoses can degrade/be damaged internally - creating in effect a one way valve not letting brake fluid release from the caliper.

Ive already looked into it, it's the ABS. I just need to know if the new one will need recoding

Hi, did you have to get this programmed? I believe I may have the same fault. When I brake, the brakes are hanging on for a couple seconds. Checked each wheel individually and each is hanging on. What were your symptoms? Cheers Ross

Have you run a VAG Diagnostic scan to see what the car is reporting as the error (if any)
