Water Lying on Door

Hi, my mk1 isn't letting water away when I wash it or it rains, water just lies on the sill of the car until I open it and let it away. Is this a door seal problem or what.
I bought the car in 2022 after it lay up for 10 years in a dry shed so would I be right in saying the door seals are dried up and stuck in one position?
I will include photos later.

Hi there. When you say sill you mean the door sill on the door itself or the chassis sill beneath the doors (when closed)?

The doors sill have two holes to let the water drain and usually get clogged.

The chassis sill, the doors are letting the water out of themselves onto the sill i suspect

mines does exactly the same on both sides, after rain or a wash when you open the door a waterfall occurs, i tried taking the rubber strips off the bottom of the doors but it didnt help at all and my drains on the door are clear.

You need to make sure that the door panels (the internal ones) are sealed properly and that the watering holes in the doors are not obstructed. Especially the sealing of the door panels is important

Yeah same here. But not a waterfall, it is more like a zen buda fountain.

It's probably the most common issue with the MK1............Here is a step by step guide to fixing it.

You must use the type of sealant shown in the guide, nothing else will do the job long term without leaks.
