I am seriously considering remapping the Leon.

Arguments for and against please.

I'm not what you'd call a performance driver, I'd just like something smoother, more efficient and hopefully a bit more fuel efficient. I'm absolutely not interested in mapping out anything like DPF, start stop or anything else.

I am looking to get the DSG gearbox remapped to match.

2019 Leon 2.0TDI engine code DFGA, with 7 speed DSG DQ381. Currently on 34000 miles/55000 km, full service history on both engine and gearbox. Anyone had any esperience of remapping this combination? Very interested in both the yay and nay comments, please.

Cheers, much appreciated

Guy at work had the same engine and box in his Passat, and he got his mapped, and was a bit 'meh'! and said he wouldn't bother again.
With a modern diesel I don't think there is really much left on the table for increasing the fuel efficiency! and certainly not if you sniff the accelerator of your faster spinning turbo!

I think you need to define what you mean by smoother and will those changes improve / worsen fuel economy.

So do you think the gearbox is changing gears at the wrong time (eg to early / late)

You are obviously not after a power tune (in other words that's not you main goal) but does you engine for example hesitate or rev to much.

Then you need to look at tuners who could do something with those requirements.

There are a lot of back street boys who will just load a map they have picked up with no real understanding of how to adjust and tune it to your requirements.

Final though is cost, you are going to pay somebody for this (no idea what cost's are like these days) will you see the benefit in financial terms (fuel economy) why compared to possible cost increase on insurance (ask first) and the map itself.

Personally in your case I would be looking for a good local tuner and asking them if they can help you with your specific requirements and would they reset the car to stock (for free) if what they have done does not work for you.

Immediate thought is dont bother.
