My Toledo has developed an intermitten issue with this ignition on/off button: sometimes it takes several attempts (as many as six) to start the car and the same issue is when I am trying to turn it off.
The issue isn't occurring every time, for example, when I went to dealer, it started every time (as luck goes) but when I get back home, it took me several minutes to turn the car off.

I've changed the battery in the keyfob (and checked that the battery is good using tester), charged the 12V battery in the car, but the issue is still occurring every now and then.

Any idea on what can cause the issue?

Took the car to SEAT, their verdict was that the button is faulty and shall be replaced.

Well thats good news in that at least its not something to do with wiring and hopefully you will soon be back up and running easily again.

Indeed. They've replaced it under All-In warranty. Took 3 hours and they've said that the bill to VW is going to be around 300 quid (sounds excessive, but what do I know?).
