Hi, I have a 2.0 TSI 204 V1 and yesterday afternoon I got a notification of new updates available. I pressed OK, and left the updates to download and install in the background.

A short while later, I noticed that the 'globe' icon was greyed out and I had no live map data. This happened once before in a particular area I was in, but as I moved away from that area, the icon turned white again and all was fine.

It's now 24 hours later and I've still got no eSIM network connection. I've done a few reboots (by holding down the on / off button), and I've reset my privacy settings to Share My Position (it was set to that anyway). I really don't want to do a factory reset as I don't think it will cure the problem and I really don't want to have to set everything up again.

Has anyone else got this problem right now on the south coast of England, and is there any way to find out if this is a general network issue? Is there anything else I can do which might resolve this problem?

Thanks.

Hold the power button down on the infotainment screen for 20 seconds. That'll reset the system but won't delete your settings.

Hi,

I have a First edition and my network globe has been greyed out since yesterday afternoon too (didn't notice any update notifications though)

Happened a few times on my previous VZ3 Formentor and usually come back after a day or so.

I'm in the North West FYI

Chris

Good to hear from someone else it's happened to. I'm hoping it's a network issue that will resolve itself.

My globe icon is still greyed out this morning, but there does seem to be some vague map activity, so I assume it's gradually coming back. Both the app updates have now completed.

Another outage? My icon came back shortly after I went out the last time, but went off again this afternoon and is still down as I type this. How often does this happen?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I've been experiencing a recurring and erratic version of this issue on my Terramar and wanted to share in case anyone else is in the same boat.

Timeline of events:

  • Late December 2025 – First noticed the globe icon greyed out when remote climate control stopped responding. The car was unreachable for about a week, then connectivity came back one day after I was away on a business trip.
  • One day after returning – Used the car normally, then lost connection again the day after.
  • Same pattern repeated on my next business trip a couple of weeks later, which made me suspect something was tied to my user profile specifically.
What I tried:

Last week I created a new Cupra account for my wife, set her as the main user, and deleted my profile from the car entirely. A few hours later the globe turned white and remote functions were working again.

However, three days later the globe is greyed out again. I've tried multiple soft resets of the infotainment with no luck.

Has anyone seen this kind of intermittent behaviour that seems linked to user profiles? Any suggestions before I take it to the dealer?

It's almost certainly not a vehicle or dealer resolvable issue - this is Cupra's software development team in action, they appear to be updating the vehicle and infrastructure (App) software constantly - have you noticed how many software updates the Terramar gets? There is a pattern where they release code, mess something up (Matrix headlights are a particular favourite at the moment), and then maybe later the same day or next another update arrives. Yes, it is irritating but on the other hand no updates at all might be worse.

Thank you for your reply. I understand the situation with the frequent software updates. The problem on my end is that I can go weeks without being able to access the car remotely, including seeing its location, which would be a serious issue in case of theft. On top of that, all the travel data—distance and consumption—is not retrieved once I regain access to the car. This makes it quite frustrating to keep track of my usage and security.
