So after waiting months for launch I finally got my hands on one of these off the Tribe Edition today so I can get rid of that awful Copper badge off the front
Unless I can find another way I think its a bumper off job cos these are secured from the back of the bumper it seems...

+1 For not liking the copper (other than the actual metal as an investment)

Well you have to have that metallic grid on the old mib2s that you cant read with the copper effect. Anybody would think this was all marketing 🫣. I have resisted turning my standard Ateca into a Cupra Ateca by changing the front splash screen. You can do that in mib2 highs. Details on the Ateca Cupra thread.

Still nice Tribe badge.

Always found the copper overly garish for some reason (its defo a marketing look at me kinda feature cos its the first thing you are drawn to) but I much prefer more subtle accenting but even saying that Cupra cant do subtle cos their "interpretation" of "Black" is actually a shiny dark chrome akin to the lettering on the VZ edtions but it will do!

I like the copper coloured badge.

:)

Me too.

I’m not keen on the current trend to illuminate the brand badges on the front and back of cars - especially the rear badge with red illumination. I was following a VW SUV the other evening with a red illuminated VW roundel on the tailgate. It just looked wrong and quite gimmicky IMHO 🤔. I also noticed that some current Vauxhall models also have the brand name spelled out across the tailgate on some of their SUV’s.

Every time I see a Vauxhall logo illuminated I think, "Who on earth would want to advertise THAT?".

That said, I really like the rear Cupra badge illumination - hence my avatar! Gimmicky? Maybe I'm a bit of a tart.

Obviously anyone who claims not to like them is suffering from LUBE - Light Up Badge Envy.

To avoid misunderstanding, although I said I like the copper coloured badge, I also love the non-copper one. As the Cupra logo is one of the best vehicle logos out there, either looks good.

Having come from a long line of Nissan Z cars (4 of them in 20+ years), the very first mod, for a tart like me, always had to be to get rid of that disgusting Nissan Burger and replacing it with a Z emblem. I don't have the same urge with Cupra, because it's already cool.

I'm happy with my S ;).

I had this one prepared but lost it - musing on "tribe"

Cupra took their user base and potential ones by "tribe" marketing and even called it "tribe". That's where it came from.

The launches are always fun to watch them on YouTube. That logo they went one better and made it look like some ancient oriental logo. Think it was @Seriously? and I took the mick out of their launch video when they were dressed in their tribe wear 🤫.

The plastic ripple effect you see in the interior of the Tavascan and Terramar is modelled on the skin of an earth snake. They let that slip at one time. So the jungle effect is there. Surprised when I spotted that in the Terramar. Whether that will carry over in the other models we will see.

I'm only in the Formentor cos I'm old and getting in and out of my S3 was getting challenging

All that said and done - I've enjoyed the Cupra immensely - its quirky and ticks all the boxes for an ageing 50+ petrolhead ;)

But I'm just not big on the copper!!!

It's that dreaded sciatica that can get you with age or if you started off tall. Ofcourse those heart patients after their operation, do rehab and bounce up and down Iike no tomorrow. We have to humour them  .

There are quite a few people that manage those low cars but I had problems in my 20s. Only gets worse once sciatica strikes that is it. You need those rigid bucket seats. Pass on Chinese needles and all the rest. Will just take a high are.

Hey, some of us old boys have lowered suspension with full racing bucket seats and learned the art of getting in and out without doing in our backs 😆

Nothing to do with backs, as an ex footballer and postie for 30 years my knees are shot to sh*t and getting in and out of the S3 go-cart wasnt great so I went OLD and got the Cupra :ROFLMAO:

I’m a bad back sufferer of well over 40 years - primarily sciatica with the occasional prolapsed disc thrown in for good measure. I don’t find I have any issues getting in / out of a ‘normal’ car (in fact I find it easier than getting in and out of an SUV); maybe regular visits to my chiropractor are worthwhile and help my flexibility?

IMHO something that is great for easing back pain is heated seats. I have them in my current car and they’re now a ‘must have’ for me in any future car 🙂.
