Hi everyone,

As I’m sure a lot of you are too, I haven’t been massively impressed by the speakers in my 2024 Formentor (non-Beats). I’m installing sound deadening in the doors in the next month, and have been thinking about upgrading the audio after this.

I’m aware that a full audio build would give far better results, but unfortunately I don’t have that sort of money. What I’m wondering is - would replacing the speakers without adding an amp/new subwoofer etc to hide behind the existing speaker grilles in the car be a decent cost effective upgrade? Or is it not worth it?

Thanks!

Can't comment specifically on the Formentor as haven't taken delivery of mine yet but having updated the speakers on my Leon and more recently BMW, yes it is worthwhile doing. Used Focal on the Leon and Eton on the BMW, both upgrades were plug and play and made significant improvements. Additional sound deadening in the doors a must and I also used some isolating material between the speaker bezels and where they mounted to the doors.

as above. Decent components and sound deadening. This is what i did. You can do the same - without amps

Great, thank you! Didn’t you find removing the door cards difficult? The clip / handle / window switch housing seems simple enough but the door card itself looks like a tricky one to me

Brilliant, thank you!

In the end, I didn’t end up doing it myself.
I am cash poor and time poor.

But I stuck a few quid aside - as I had a ton of sound deadening sheets leftover from the Leon. Used them and it saved me a pretty penny.

Otherwise- yes, it would have been a ball ache.
