CUPRA has announced a sizeable update for the Tavascan line-up, with a new entry-level variant, a revised interior and a number of technology upgrades aimed at making the all-electric SUV coupe more appealing to a wider range of buyers.

The updated range is due to enter production in the coming weeks, with the first customer cars expected to arrive after the summer.

New entry-level Tavascan joins the range

The biggest change is the arrival of a new 140kW / 58kWh version, which gives the Tavascan line-up a lower starting point without moving away from the model’s sporty character.

This new variant uses a 58kWh...

Not sure about this, too many of the current range of CUPRA's with lower power units, to me are not really CUPRA's as this was supposed to be the sporty brand. I have read on this forum many users complaining about the performance of their cars, but what do they expect, with big heavy cars and little power. To me this just down grades the whole CUPRA brand, I liked it better when the Cupra's that SEAT made were all quick and sporty cars with performance the Number one priority.

I agree, and from my experience at Cupra dealers they only really seem interested on pushing the lower power cars and plug in hybrids these days. My local dealer had no performance models as demos.

Well if it was like when I was buying my Ateca 10 years ago the dealer and the HQ decided what cars they were going to push / sell. Thus they decided that the local market and this was up north couldn't support the top range models so the demo models were of lower spec. So hidden hands decided they were only going to show the lower spec cars since they thought they couldn't shift anything else.

I see the electrive web site has its own take on it from the media centre press release

Some enterprising sole could do a matrix of Vag models by feature, screen size etc and see whether the electric models are lining up or which ones have extras or lacking.

Some interesting information in there that the infotainment units are now Android based, dont tell Apple people that. What happened to Car Linux or whatever it was called. Is this the parting of the waves in mib3 for the ice vehicles and the other entertainment systems of the ID models. I'm sure I'll be put straight by @East Yorkshire Retrofits

Well I'm keeping an eye open on EV developments. This one has car to charge or something. This I believe is to power the house in power cuts via the car.... well enough to run the TV and CH. Something the Irish do. Appears in the media centre link:

Practicality meets innovation with vehicle‑to‑load (V2L) capability. This feature allows the car’s battery to power external devices such as laptops, e‑bikes or full‑powered sound systems. Enabled via a dedicated adapter, V2L transforms the CUPRA Tavascan into a portable energy source.

or is that for the toaster on a picnic. Hmmm

Oh well if being serious about it you'd have to see what the Irish get up. 13amp adapter in those images. Solar suppliers would say get a battery backup. Well I reckon with wind and current solar conditions and not using the car for long journeys Octopus Agile is sufficient rather than one of their EV tariffs. You have to pick your weather 🤫. All linked to usage of the vehicle.

Android is just another flavour of Linux developed by Google for mobile devices but uses Linux kernel as its base. I assume is better for the types of apps used on infotainment systems.

Glad to see proper buttons although you di get used to haptic buttons. But still prefer my Ibiza wheel buttons to tour Born. Glad the Raval has clicky buttons too as pretty much certain, I will pre order one.

I thought someone might say that about Android. Suppose the question is whether it allows Android app or car Android apps. Possibly from that write up it has the touch and feel of Android although that changes with versions. East Yorkshire Retrofit as I recall picked me up on that the EV models are not on "mib" so a parting of the waves on mib for ICE sometime ago. The map files are suppose to be common although there are further ones than the ones we currently see on the Seat / Skoda line up. With VW being more picky with login you dont get to see them. Russian site had them.

Edit ICAS3 more for the technically minded

MEB thing. Since I cant find ICAS4 probably its ICAS3 in these new ID range of vehicles may be ICAS3 was always Android based ?.

Clicky buttons are the order of the day now. That Chinese VW where the Tavascan is made probably has first dibs on VAG parts since they are likely to originate in China. The switch gear in all of the pre release videos and release ones for the brands are now starting to look similar for these "ID" models coming across VW, Seat and Skoda and Cupra... probably. They are all Vag cars with branding games being played. Price, access to dealerships, spec and comfort levels being more important together. Like the comment on that web site that BYD are better on battery spec, but 160 mile round journey to reach a dealership you may not bother. Dealership access may trump the other things.

Now Cupra seems to be rolling out to Seat dealerships seems pretty sensible. Seat name branding was going to continue to 2030 or so with the ICE only cars but you'd expect the new range of "peoples cars" coming in the ID revised cars across the brands will hit Seat at that pencilled in date. "People car" is indeed VW branding. The new front end of Skodas has stopped them looking like utility vehicles and in ID form may snap up Cupra ID form sales. You never know. My dealership also services Skodas as well. 4 miles and a lay in bed verses 160 miles or so for the trip to the dealership for BYDs and other Chinese exotic EV brands where the local Skoda dealerhip was test marketing them as pre registered. My Seat dealership just got the Cupra sales but evidently they were not happy with the Seat offer only of ICE and a dying line up of models as EVs take precedence. The Ateca is due to leave the line up soon with the Terramar taking it's place. Tarraco went some time ago but continued in Skoda form and that new EV version announced. So yes the Raval gives them another line to hook sales away from local VW and Skoda dealerships in the refreshed "ID" line up. Seat were always more economic on price than VW being built in Spain and East Europe against Germany. Cupra offering bigger engines than Seat with design flare, spec and build quality at a price. Now VAG cars are built across the continent and the Tavascan for export to Europe and Australia etc from China. Getting the doors to hang correctly when shipped might not be the defining thing now for different Vag factories dunno. For petrol heads that article tells you which electric motor the Raval comes on ;). AP350 which is the rub for some ICE people. Presumably more meaty ones coming along for them but acceleration speeds of EVs cant be sneezed at. 0-60 for EVs takes a lot of beating. It's the torque of the motor never mind the weight of the car.

Reckon there will be a lot of Ravals on the road round here. Its a traditional Seat hot-spot with Cupras getting more visible. The second hand sales until they could sell them new.
