I think the colour range is not great too, in some lights magnetic tech grey looks very similar to Fjord Blue. Europe has that many orders the lead time is extending, dealer told me on pickup early Sept that a UK order was January delivery but I bet February or March by now.
All those grays look good only in the sun, otherwise they're too dark. Fiord Blue as well. I saw Magnetic Tech in the showroom, and at first glance I thought it was black.

As for delivery times, it's way too long, but I wanted specific equipment—no way was I paying for something off dealer stock that I don't want. I hope that by then they'll fix most of the bugs and improve build quality, because it would be really sad if, after all that time, we were still writing about the same problems instead of enjoying the drive.

I would take more colorful options as well, currently having a Mazda 3 in the soulred crystal paint which I love how it's so in-your-face colorful shifting from wine red in overcast to bright candy red in direct sunlight but I disagree about the grey colors in terms of only looking good in the sun, I actually prefer the slightly darker look of Fiord Blue more than the "bleaker" color it tends to show in direct sunlight. Something like this is when I like it the most, giving a stealthy and to me the most sporty/aggressive vibe. Guess it's matter of taste like anything but yea Cupra is all about "how do you like your grey, sir?" 😅

I think of all the colours, manganese matt does absolutely nothing for me and I agree atm there isn't enough colour choice.
Originally we went for magnetic grey as a safe option to plasma, but the draw of the colour shifting plasma we couldnt resist.
I would say though, if the abt kit had been available at order, I'd have gone white as i think that would look great against the black accents and wheels

Anyways I'll still have my Java green RSQ3 to bring a splash of colour (y)

Polo has metallic yellow as the base, free color. It has that really nice blue. It has red. It also has the classic metallic silver (I'm old school, I like that color). Skoda too. All of those colors would look great on the Raval.

The most common thing people talk about in groups, besides digital key issues, is whether anyone has photos of this or that color because they can't tell anything from the configurator. That says enough about how off the colors are. :D

So true, I don't think I've seen any worse presentation of the colors in a configurator if I have to be perfectly honest. 😜 I had to use AI on real pictures to get that back to back comparison btw to decide whether to pick black roof or not (unlike in UK it's a 400€ extra here so would have to be very certain I like it more in black but since I didn't think so I saw no point in picking it)

I use the mobile.de website (app)—luckily, they have a fair number of listings with photos of the new Raval, so you can find plenty of good pictures taken in various conditions and angles.

I’m not a fan of today's trend of overall blacking-out on cars—black wheels, black side moldings on the doors, around the wheel arches...

For example, metallic white looks good, but the Raval would look 10 times better to me if those black door moldings were body-colored. On other colors, you barely notice them, but on white, they really stand out.

And if it had nicer 18" wheels, something similar to the 19" Maverick wheels.

Tell me about it, an example of this black detailing gone wrong to me is Hyundai Ioniq 3, was actually my top contender before launch (loved the concept) but seeing the final design, naaaaah not for me (besides slow acceleration, poor charging speed etc).

Yea regarding rim options for the tyres was also a bit of a letdown for Raval, especially if you like me picked VZ then you have 3 options (or 4 if you count the copper vs sulphur green Rebel as different) but then if you like me wanted the longer range tyres it only leaves you with 2 options, the copper Rebel rims or the Vandal ones but the Vandal heavy copper design when it's not part of the launch edition Endurance package costs a whooping 850€(!) extra in Finland when in the UK it's +£90 extra for those. Besides I'm not quite sold on Vandal tyres + fiord blue combination, it works better on more neutral grey or white etc for my tastes. So copper Rebel rims was then the only option left and I haven't yet seen any pictures of Raval VZ in Fiord Blue with Copper Rebel tyres and slightly worried how the lighter grey plastic aero covers matches against the fiord blue paint, probably not the best my imagination of it thinks or illustrated photoshop pics says without having seen it yet but luckily you can remove the aero covers and I've seen a few videos with them removed and I actually like the look and probably will do the same, makes the tyres look one size bigger and sportier. The Icon² tyres seen in a few press photos/early reviews looks the best to me but those require the "Ahead" package again which means the CUP bucket sulphur green seats and green interior accents which I do not personally want and Ahead pack is a 1300€ extra here, besides it's also the C-efficiency more softer/grippy tyres when I'd rather take the A-efficiency rates ones. It's stupid lock-in options like this that makes it frustrating with speccing your own car.

I'm just thinking if these gold accents would match the Fiord Blue color.

Might do if it's not too glaring colored gold I think but then again VZ has copper colored accents at the front and rear diffusers so those stripes + slight copper nuances at the rims should work okay together, as for design, it gives me a bit of that Rebel tyre vibes with aero covers removed:

Eeek that is my car and me :ROFLMAO:

I remember reading some early reviewer comments about the dark color palette being a deliberate policy as part of "corporate Identity" and the sporty image. "Reviewers note that apart from Glacial White, the vehicle's paint options are almost exclusively deep, dark, or matte finishes designed to complement its dramatic body creases and signature copper badges."
Although , have you seen the back end of a white Raval with the white diffusers? Doesn't look right.
So it looks like if you want a nice baby blue or pastel pink color you'll have to go for an ID.Polo or similar.
Now, a decent metallic dark red???

I love white cars, although prior to the Raval we had three white cars two Ibiza's and a Born so looked like a wedding car company! Agree the white especially the rear does not look right and I don't think white suits the car either, I used Autotrader to look at Ravals in different colours as the next best thing to seeing them in the flesh. Personally they should drop Magnetic Tech grey and replace with Timanfay Grey and add Cosmos blue for another brighter colour. I would of had Timanfay Grey over Fjord blue had it been available. As looks great on the Born.

We've ordered a VZ (not Extreme) in Magnetic Tech Grey - daft name, but we really like the colour. I would have happily had the Fjord Blue too, especially at £0, but the solid paints can be a little soft, and show swirl marks very easily. The white is another lovely colour; but in our case, its replacing a white Hyundai, and we don't go for two in a row in same colour.
I think the photos on the Cupra website & brochure are a bit unflattering - turn the damn lights on!, but there's some good colours there.
I also really like the ID Polo's Celestial Blue, and Cupra's grey / green - is that Timanfaya?, but more than happy with the choices.

Anyone has considered doing ceramic coating or have done on their new Raval? I'm a bit 50/50. I'm considering it in order to protect the paint and adding a bit more shine especially as I've ordered one with Fiord Blue and I'm the guy who never washes the car myself and never do any waxing (I just hate doing it or I'm lazy I guess) and only used the car wash programme that applies a bit wax on the surface but I wonder if brushless car wash will be enough to get it clean in the long run (I would renew the coating when necessary, be it after 2 or 3 years etc). I've used car wash brushed cleaning on my Mazda 3 (no ceramic coating) and has picked up quite a lot of visible swirls over the year against direct sunlight on the sides (6.5 years+ now). I would rather take swirls visible in direct sunlight over cleaning it myself though but I wonder if ceramic coating + brushless car washing might be a better option, the coating should make it a bit easier for dirt to come off, without the coating I wasn't quite 100% happy with the cleaning result from brushless cleaning so only used it a couple of times on the Mazda.

I have only planned to keep Raval a short time of around 5 years, maximum 6.

EDIT: I would choose Ceramic Pro 9H if deciding to go ahead with the coating https://ceramicpro.com/what-is-ceramic-pro-9h-and-why-should-you-get-it/ and have it done by professionals. I'd expect around 700€ or maybe a bit more if going for more layers (the compound is designed for minimum 2 and maximum 5 layers) for Raval.

I did the ceramic coating myself on previous cars and it makes a huge and noticeable difference to appearance and makes it much easier to wash (snow foam and two-bucket method, blow-dry to minimise contact). It still looked great after 3 years. Machine washing will damage it as will the sand-wash at the local supermarket it so it may not be worthwhile if you're not washing it yourself.
I no longer have the garage space to do it myself, but I had it done on the Raval by the dealer before delivery and it looks good.

Yea I know brushed car washes is not recommended but opinions are more mixed if using brushless car wash programmes, I've seen several users commented it has help up for 2-3 years or so when doing brushless car wash only but others say the stronger chemicals in brushless washing eats up the coating but then again the coating says it has good resistance against chemicals and some users have not had issues when using just brushless car wash programme either so.

So it's that's what I'm deciding between:

- Do the ceramic coating and only use brushless car wash programme
- Do not do the coating and use a mix of brushed and brushless depending on needs and accept some swirls over the years like currently on my Mazda

(cleaning myself isn't an option, neither is the option to let specialized car cleaners do the job as it gets just too expensive in the long run for how short lives cars are kept clean in the harsh climate in Finland with big variety in winter, spring, autumn and summer)

I used to live in Scotland so I have some idea what you mean about weather. You seem to have the necessary information to make your decision, but simply on appearance, I would get the coating and do the brushless wash. It should be good for at least three years then you can see if you want to repeat the polishing and coating.
