Hiya, getting a few mixed messages online about this I’ve had the CEL light come on so I’ve scanned the car and it comes up with this error “
P268100 - Engine Coolant Bypass
Valve Control: Circuit/Open”

I’ve seen a few posts saying I’d need to replace the Thermostat and water pump but just want to make sure that this is the fix as I’m not loosing any coolant and the temps are completely fine has anyone else had this issue and what was done to fix it?

hi. my 2018 cupra 300 has also started losing coolant. About a cup full every 200 miles. Read somewhere else it may be the EGR (exhaust gas recycle) valve cooler sticking. There is a coolant pipe going to the turbo inlet, but cant see an EGR valve. Expansion tank is hot after a long drive. No leaks on the floor.

Hiya, looks like the cupra 300’s don’t have an egr valve, or at least doesn’t show one on the genuine lookups I have access too, I’d be looking at the thermostat first as that was the fault with mine if you can get it up on a ramp there is a little plug on the thermostat that gets contaminated with coolant and causes all sorts of issues

My older daughter's 2019 Leon Cupra 290 has been losing coolant since it was new, with no visible traces been spotted by me, to put this into context, the total loss has only been 1.5 litres - but it is still a loss, my wife's 2015 VW Polo 1.2TSI 110PS 6MT has never been or needed its coolant toping up since new, same for my 2011 Audi S4.

I would say check the water pump as if it’s the original one the whole water pump housing is plastic so could crack and be leaking directly onto the block and burning off the coolant leaving no traces on the floor

I agree, but as long as this slight loss of coolant stays this low and constant, I'll just leave it seeing as it has been doing this from new - when new I just assumed that it was air still in the system, though I would have assumed that at the car build plant, that happening is highly unlikely as it would cause dealers and so the manufacturers too much money to warranty charges for dealerships needing to top up the coolant.

I've got a cooling system pressure testing kit, but at this very low rate of coolant low, I'd doubt if I'd detect anything.

Did you also check this coolant nipple?

Further update on coolant loss 2018 300 cupra leon. I think the issue is the temperature sensor. Also I think there are 2 separate sensors. 1 gives an indication next to the speedo (bar graph) and the other one is on the touch screen. You can select oil temp, coolant temp , boost pressure and BHP. The bar graph sensor was showing 90 c but the other sensor on the centre screen went off showing zero. And then after it went off the oil temperature started to rise up past 108. So i stopped the car to let it cool down. Looked under the bonnet and jiggled the connector on what looked like the temperature sensor (left side). And the temperature indication came back on and the oil temperature dropped back down to 102. Think its cured. 🤞
