Hi, I recently got a 2022 Leon FR 1.5 TSI, after watching many videos of the car myself and my partner were excited for the wrap around lighting only to find out we don't have the options for it. Even though it looks as if it should be there.

Is there any way I can activate it or get it installed? Thanks!

I have just got a 2024 VZ2 and it does funny things with this lighting when I get in the car. Once it started doing the disco lighting while I was driving, and I wanted the distraction to go away, but I also didn't want to be playing on the touch screen, so I used the voice control. After trying several "commands" it turned off, I think I said "turn off ambient lighting", and when it did turn off the voice told me that to activate it I should say something different, something like "background lighting", but when I tried later, it didn't know what I was talking about, and I can't see anything in the touch screen menus. So this question reminded me.
Looking in the index of the 414 page handbook, there is no "ambient" but there is "background lighting" (p137) which then refers to "Ambient light". Well, the picture in the book is not what I see on screen, I can vary the brightness of the dash and touch screen and that is all (and strangely no auto setting for that). I can however say "turn on background lighting" or "set background lighting to green" and that works. trying other options like "set background lighting to drive profile" results in "I don't know what you mean".
It seems absolutely ridiculous that there is a "feature" which you cannot control on the screen, but you can control by voice, but only if you know exactly the right words to use.

You sure you got an FR trim on your Leon

Afaik FR trims all get the ambient lighting. I know that much because when I was in process of buying mine, I exclusively searched for an FR because I wanted it also.
I think the Xcellence trim also gets it, but not sure on that.

Check the actual trim level of yours. There are also some telltale exterior signs that its and FR (chromy fake exhaust tips, a bit more agressive front bumper).

I have now been told two things, 1) They only come on when it's dark (cover the sensor on the windscreen to test) 2) I was in the wrong menu, I needed to touch the apps screen button second from left at top) then select the lighting "app". I have also learnt that the brightness of the touch screen and dash is automatically adjusted according to the light sensor on the windscreen.
