Hi everyone

I just wondered if I buy some new alloy wheels and tyres but don't have tyre pressure sensors fitted will it throw up a fault code ? If so can the sensors be turned off by coding then out or will it be fine and not cause any issues ?

Thank you so much

The TPMS on the Leon is an indirect system that uses the ABS sensors to monitor differences in the rotational speed of the wheels to detect losses in tyre pressures. Therefore, your car doesn’t have specific tyre pressure sensors fitted.
Hi mate thank you so very much for the reply so in summary me putting me tyres and wheels on without specific tyre pressure sensors wouldn't put any fault code up because the system in place will still be present and use the abs sensors accordingly? Many thanks again mate

Correct 👍🙂.

Don’t forget to inform your insurance company if you do change your wheels.

Or better still ask for a revised quote first.

My insurance company wanted to double my insurance when I suggested fitting 18" OEM wheels with 40% profile tyres, despite the fact it would potentially reduce my claims for pothole damaged wheels and tyres. :(
