Seat Leon headlight

Hi all. I’ve got a 2014 Seat Leon Mk3 1.2 TSI and the passenger headlight has completely packed in. It started with the indicator failing, then the main beam began flickering, and now nothing works at all.

Has anyone here replaced the ballast module on these headlights? If so, did it actually fix the issue?

I’m fairly handy with repairs so I’m confident I can do the job myself, but these headlights are seriously expensive and I’m hoping there’s a cheaper fix before I commit to a full replacement. Have reached out to salvage yards but no success sourcing headlight. Any advice or experience would be really appreciated.

It sounds like a faulty headlight control module. These modules are mounted on the underside of the headlight, so if moisture gets inside, they will eventually fail. You can replace the module itself. I did this on mine, and although my car was a facelift model, the process should be fairly similar. You need to remove the front bumper to take out the headlight and module.

You could also choose to replace the entire headlight, but it’s not necessary. I installed a new headlight myself, which unfortunately already shows some condensation as well.

Yess, I think we mean the same. The module I'm talking about is located on the underside of the headlight. Should be like this for pfl;

Remember that the term/description "ballast unit" was only used for "arc light" ie gas discharge lamps/tubes striking-running in HID section of headlights, LED headlights and filament headlights don't need that kind of device.

Just clarifying this, nothing more intended.
