Been told by guy at local garage that i need to replace my alternator ASAP as it is making a noise. There is a horrible like metal grinding noise, more so when cold - that is getting gradually worse, plus i get the occasional Alternator Light flicker on the dash when unload high load. It has also recently had a new Alternator belt and tensioner and also cambelt, tensioner and wter pump change.

Been looking around for price so i don't get ripped off, but there seems to be loads of different types and amps etc.

How do i confirm which one i need? I did have a very quick look but couldn't see and numbers / brands on it. Where are they usually located on it as it is a bit hard to see the back and underneath it.

thanks.

PM me your vin and I will help as best I can.
The difference is in the makes and th epower - SEAT used Bosch. Marelli and Valeo seemingly at random, also power output can be anywhere from 80A to 150A
Usually a silver sticker on the unit, but may need unit removed to see it.
