Got round to plastidip my bumper lip (cupra style). Excellent to put on and with it being rubbery then hopefully should with stand the stones (fingers crossed).

I am going to do the bottom lip again due to me being an idiot and touching the wet paint with the masking paper whilst removing it :censored: so it has a mark on it. The beauty of it I can just peel it off and do it again!.

Very happy with the result (well will be once I do the bottom again) and it only cost £12ish for the plastidip

That looks really smart!

You got any close ups of it? Or any idea what the thickness is like?

Pic added.......

thickness is around a 1/4 of a mm ish maybe a little thicker hard to tell really

That was with 3 coats

I think I might buy a couple cans of this :)

It is really good stuff... Just make sure you dont touch it when wet with the masking paper lol but just means I have to spend another half an hour masking up and then painting again when the weather gets a bit better as I was rushing due to the rain being imminent.

That is a brilliant idea as vinyl wrapping ironstone would be difficult around the double curves and I'd prob end up paying someone after a failed attempt but this, anyone can do and as you say it can be peeled off at anytime.
Do you not need to scuff the paint up so it will bond to it?

Think il be ordering some of that stuff.

No, it sticks fine. I'm guessing that if you wanted it to stick better then yeah as it would provide a key. But for this purpose it sticks just fine

Excellent, and does it peel off leaving no defects to the original paint work?

Iv always wondered how far do you paint/vinyl back once your've gone around the front lip as the plastic bumper goes along way back underneath.

I pic front underneath would paint a thousand words

Will try and get a pic.

I only painted upto the little ridge just under the front of the lip (around 1 inch back). But I was walking towards the car last night and I could see underneath the front bumper and I could see where the paint stopped. It may be better to paint all the way upto the ridge part at the back (cupras go all the way back as well).

Think i may do this when I paint it next

Yeah it just peels off with no residue left over and paint looks perfect.

Im guessing its just a case of giving the area a very good clean, dry it, mask, spray......wait and job done?

No primers needed etc?

Yeah, de-tar'ed, fully cleaned with wax'less shampoo. Masked up and then ran a paint prep wipe over them.

Let it to dry for 15 mins and then started spraying. Give it another couple of coats. Around 5 min drying time in between coats.

Then just after last coat take the masking tape and paper off (as the overspray dries and since it is rubber you need to remove when still wet preventing it peeling off the paint from the bumper)

Looks great! How hard is this stuff to apply? i.e do you have to be as careful applying as you would spray paint to get an even coat.

Goes on very even to be honest. As with all spray paint don't apply too much at once other wise you will get runs.
