My Leon FR TDI (Mk 1) has the 6-speed 'box.
Since I got the car I get a whining noise from the transmission when decelerating, in gear, and also when the car is freewheeling out of gear.
I've read about issues with bearing failures on the 6-speed box, and also rivets popping out of differentials, which are pretty scary
Is my noisy gearbox about to bork, or is there a mileage at which they fail, as I don't fancy shelling out £2k+ for a new one & might ditch the car instead?
Cheers,
Ben
