Having some issues with my electrical systems. I changed my light in the boot and in doing so I have messed up some stuff although there's no obvious apparent damage. Iv managed to break

1 remote locking
2 all electric windows
3 electric mirrors
4 all interior lights (including boot)
5 thermostat light flashing red constantly warning beeping after ignition turned on (temperature gauge sat at normal level in the middle of the dial)

I have replaced fuses 14 and 38 which should be the corresponding to all those components. I would like to avoid paying stealer prices so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Model is a 2001 Leon cupra (face lift model). Earlier in the day I replaced the main interior light with a white led one which caused no problems it was just when I moved round to the boot and found no bulb installed and I had purchased a pack of two and planned on getting all led interior lights anyway.

Check that you haven't got the metal prongs on the boot light making contact with the metal bit that goes along the top of the bulb..I did this so every time I changed a fuse it just blew again straight away, as I'd bent the prongs slightly to fit a slightly smaller festoon LED.
I think it was fuse 14 though, so if yours is fine then I'm stumped

Well at least that gives me an idea of how this happened. My boot light thing is broken which doesn't help. The fact there's a metal piece above where the metal bulb was going to sit meant it could short out any time I guess

Just to update my situation here, I have replaced my fuse 14 again and now the electric windows, mirrors, interior lights are all working again now. The faults that remain are remote locking and coolant check warnings.

My fuse 38 seems fine and I swapped it out for a new one hoping that might fix the remote locking but no dice I'm afraid. Does anyone else have any further ideas? I have her booked into a garage for after work

Remote locking fixed by reprogramming the key which I didn't know how to do. The car is now left at a garage to get the coolant warning sorted and apparently all my break lights stopped working so that's getting fixed also. Picking her up Friday and finally everything will be fixed

I live in the Abbeymead area of Gloucester. Thanks for the offer but the car is already at a garage now. I did have a bash at cleaning those prongs off myself but didn't fix the warning although most of the black fur crap was right at the top of them and I wasn't able to access without dismantling which I didn't feel to comfortable about. I might well end up investing in a vagcom I just figured as its a specialist price of equipment it would cost £200 which I don't have spare lol Thanks again guys :)

But i do know of one in this country for sale will send him the link.
Yeah don't do standard phones ;)

If all of these diagnostic kits are car - USB it won't be any good to me as I don't own a lap top, I have a desk top PC and logistly I won't be able to make a connection without a 30ft USB cable to my drive way lol Unless there's one with a small LCD display it won't really be feasible to use. Tbh I'm not sure if I have much need for one, would be cool but not really nessesary for now. I probably won't be doing any engine mods and after tomorrow the only things not working will be the rear interior lights which I'll probably pull out and replace with white led versions

You can buy a plug in scanner that will fill your needs i think, a cheap netbook would also do, that's what i use.

For now I think I'll leave it, unless there comes a time I feel it need it and have the money spare.

As your online for now and onto the subject rear interior lights, do the bulbs screw out the top somehow? I looked at mine the other day and wasn't really able to see how to remove them to replace the bulb with either blue or white led version
