gearstick

Hi I have a manual 98 r diesel ,Does anyone have any info on the coupling underneath the gearstcik and how easy it is to change as the ball joint has come out of the plastic soocket and can therefore only get first and second. this is the wifes car and she is now using my Alhambra so...

When im in neutral the gearstick is shaking/vibrating... is this normal? (Turbo Diesel)

This is probably one of those questions i'll get slated for but.... My gearstick has recently started squeaking - like a plastic-y sound in 1st & 2nd / sometimes 3rd - is this a sign of an underlying problem or is it a job for WD40?

can engage all gears with no grinding noise but there seems to be no slack as the stick wont go side to side easily. where ever I put the stick, it stays there Any ideas what this could be?

Anyone know how to remove the gearstick cover from the gearlever? (have a rattle somewhere on the lever). There's a brittle plastic attachment to the console and I don't want to pull too hard in case I break it. 2000 Toledo TDi.

Do any of the Ibizas have a leather gaitor around the gearstick? I think the standard one on my Dab looks really cheap. I would prefer to buy a proper one than get an aftermarket one. Also how easy are they to fit? I might also get the chrome surround at the same time. Thanks. Norrie.

Can anyone provide me a decent picture of your flag between the gear stick and fag lighter hole... Need to place mine and want to check where it was from standard! Cheers Rich

I picked up my 06 reg ibiza fr tdi on wed and from day one the gear stick rattles when in neutral. Just put the car into neutral in traffic and the stick vibrates, if i move it left or right slightly it goes away until i stop again. Any ideas?? thanks

Hi Anyone know what thread is used on a seat/vw gearstick end/knob ? I am wondering if its an M10 x 1.5 ??????? anyone know for sure ? Cheers Rob
