fitted, excellent. I went for 8000k bulbs, so abit of a bluey tint to them.

Anyone fitted high beam HIDs aswell? God knows where you will hide the ballasts.

Just need some nice sidelights, any recormendations before I hit ebay?

I paid £80 for my cupra ones, ceramic bases, silicone wires, tiny slim line balasts etc. frigging awesum and never had any issues! I bought the over day some £20 ones for my daily driver, just arrived in a simple polystryene box, and thats it! not fancy or instructions or fitting kit. Fitted them as ive done it loads of times before - worked fine. driving along and turned the lights on, speedo died and ABS light flicked on, seconds later light out and speedo back. Since then it doesnt do that any more.
Massive difference in the quality of the two kits, and i dono if the cheap ones will get too hot etc etc. Cupra I tend to throw money at, but the daily is just bare needs. lol!

with mine that were doing this, i swapped the ballasts over from left to right and it solved them lol.

thier not even close to the £100 ones i had for the bmw, but for that amount of money you cant expect it lol

Tried changing the ballasts mate - and got a shock after pulling the live wire off whilst they were still on.. OUCH!!!

They flicker sightly but I am putting that down to my car being so low and bumpy lol - they do pulse a little bit on idle. I have a new bulb coming under warranty to see if that fixes it.

Either way they'll do for the winter.

Ok call me an idiot! Am I right in saying that hids are just a different bulb to swap over for the sidelight bulb or is there more to it than that? And what are ballasts? Thought you get ballast on boats!

Different type of ballast for boats fella :D

The ballast is, in this case an small board/chip in a metal case that controls how the lamp is illuminated. It controls wattage power flow etc.

You will find one in an old school strip light in your house something similar. This may be older though and not have a digital type and it will have a choke and capacitor and other bits and bobs.

Good explanation here

Fitted my £25.99 ones the other day. Took 10 mins. I went for 600k. The look good. I'm really impressed. I don't thump ill have any bother with the 5 0 around where I live.

I use to sell these in a car mod shop when the first came out and there is no diff in quality with any of them once there fitted to the car they all look the same

I have found a couple of kits on ebay and was wondering what people recommend. I am not sure if a 55W kit is overkill or if 35W is not enough. I thought around 4300K with H7Rs should look normal and reduce glare.

55W Kit - ebay number - 180697669345
35W Kit - ebay number - 260762342760

Any thoughts please.

why pay that from china? just search ebay UK and pay similar with a UK warranty, and 35W is fine

ive put in 100w super white H1 high beam bulbs in, and led white sidelights. Looking good on my black leon :) and i can see like daylight in the country lanes around northumberland.

I was looking for more around H7R 4300K as I wanted a whiter light rather than purple, any links to good ones, have been looking on Ebay for ages now and cannot seem to find any decent ones for a good price.

Thanks again
