1.0 tsi rattle on cold start

Hi, I've got a 1.0 tsi that has a rattle on cold start, I believe it's caused by the wastegate opening full on cold start to warm cat quicker. Only lasts about 20 to 30 seconds . Anybody else had an issue and found a cure without spending lots of ££££'s I have 3 options I believe, shim the linkage rod, change actuator of change whole turbo.

Any help appreciated

If it only lasts 20/30s and it is designed to do it from opening wastegaste surely seat designed it this way for that very reason.

It sounds like a bag of spanners lol, drives no problems whatsoever no lights nothing, just the rod rattling on cold start. If you start it when warmed up it's perfect.

Oh right so something is not correct.

Your initial post gave me the impression it was ment to be like that for 20s. However the noise is louder than would be expected?

Having same issue with daughters 2020 Ibiza, sounds ****** at start up then goes quiet after 30secs, I can understand it should be like this but ours sounds embarrassingly bad, we have 2 identical Ibizas but this one is awful. Dealer says nothing they can do when checked 6 months ago, I mentioned it to a friend who is high up in the Listers group and he sent them an email few days ago and they contacted me today to get it booked in again to recheck it....fingers crossed.

Would you post your results from when you are booked in, I would like to know what they say. I've had new actuator and rod which made no difference, I have put a spring on the rod which has helped a little

The complete turbo has been replaced under the extended warranty, should be ready later today
