1.2 refrance 2005

hi, can anyone tell me has the 1.2 2005 refrance model had the mods on the timing chain tensioners? what milage should the camchain be changed .i am asking as i have a strange noise just as i set off ( the engine sounds like a growler ) from cold, forwards or backwards.. the car has only done 21k and has great performance , revs and sounds nice ,it has good econemy. is there anthing i should be looking for as the car does sound different this last week.. thanks guys and gals

hi, thanks .. after how many miles is it recomended to change camchain? have you any idea what i could look for as to the vibrating, grumbling noise( quit hard to describe) just as i move off.. could it be the clutch thrust bearing or something ,, have you ever heard of somthing similar?

I'm not aware that there is any recomended service interval for the chain etc.

Ours does makes a noise on starting off but it's more noticeable from outside. It's more a vibrating / rattling noise on our car and the dealer said it could be the shields on the inside of the front brake discs.

I don't think it is that, but the it does make the kind of sound that you would imagine vibrating shields would make.

I've got a feeling it's more of an induction (air being sucked into the engine) noise. The car sounds a bit like a diesel sometimes, and ours (Sept 04 model) has the older type of air filter arrangement whith the air filter built into the engine cover, rather than a separate air box as on newer cars.
