Have just driven and ordered a 1.4 Sport 5 door. Well happy with the test drive, really couldn't tell much difference until I really pushed the 1.6....

Had read a few reviews which agreed with my assessment but am now a bit worried about it being the wrong choice (I pick it up Saturday so I will be stressing until then cos that is what I am like..)

Any opinions - can you set my mind to rest?

i have the 1.4 sport, and i can honestly say i have had no problems with it, its very responsive and will reach the speeds needed for everyday driving without fault or much effort

if you have any questions about the 1.4 dont hesitate to ask =]

Thanks

Cheers for that!! I did love the car on test and thought it had more than enough oomph. :D

exactly, for me (being only 19) i had to go for the 1.4 because of insurance (*******s) but i thinks its more than enough, and at the end of the day if you wanted the ibiza mainly for performance then you would have gone for the cupra/fr/boc etc..

definately. 1.4 is good for regular usage, and "ok" for performance. It is 1.4 atmospheric, don't expect much :) not the one to underestimate though ;)

I'm quite happy with my 1.4 sport. I feel it could do with a bit more power, but then again I think that about every car I've had and even when I mod and get that power I still think it could do with more :p

I've got the 1.6 CRTDi, it's awesome. I haven't had any problems with the DPF (yet... knock on wood?), mileage is great, done just over 1000 miles and only had it 5 weeks! Averaging roughly 45mpg, getting an easy 60mpg doing 80mph on the A1[M], which is a little short of stated, but I'm not complaining since my last car was a 1.4 MG ZR which maybe managed 20mpg?

Although the trip is nice when you're flooring it and it shows 6.4mpg... xD

To be fair, the 1.4 Petrol is a little more "fun" to drive, but I went for the "sensible" option. I have no problems with this (I'm getting old... at the young age of 23! LOL.)
