Hi guys,
Just wondering if it was possible to supercharge the 16v 100bhp engine?
I've done a few searches and stuff but I cant find a definate answer. Some people say you can but you gotta upgrade all the internals which i dont really wanna do as im guessing its not a cheap job to do. Other people say you can run it fine with standard internals but on low boost.

So I was wondering if it was possible? what kit? rough price?

Cheers

Buy a fr or cupra. It will be cheaper and faster in the long run. Its not just the internals that will need upgrading suspension, brakes ect ect. Imo its just not worth it.

I know it would be but i've only had my sportrider 6months and planning on havin it a few years, and i would like something different, go for the sleeper look

i know all that would have to be changed, but they are the easier jobs

There was a German company that offered a full bolt-on supercharger kit for this engine and I have lost their contact details so if anyone can help??!!!!

Basically it is possible!

i know Rotrex do one for the VW 6n engine which i think is the same as the 100bhp one
that produces 180bhp with a custom map

jus something im curious about thats all, would be good to get some info about the kit and what is neccessary for it to run smoothly

In theory you can supercharge any car but the expense of doing so and the risk of breaking parts is rather high as the engine was designed to be n/a. So a lot of work would be necessary for gains some people would argue to be poor in comparison to the money spent.

Personally (being a 1.4 owner aswel) I would advise you to consider a 20vt turbo conversion or if you fancy a poop in the pants experience, dare I suggest a r32 conversion :D.

Anyway, drop the guys at Regal-autosport a message as they should be able to advise and direct you in the right direction. They're super friendly people and very good at what they do.

In theory it can be done quite cheap if you can make parts and fit them your self. If you keep the boost low you should be able to touch 180bhp with out looking at the internals.

Buy a used Mini Cooper S charger, make up some mounts, pipe work, work out where you can get drive (belt drive) from, maybe chuck an intercooler in, sort out the fueling and ignition mapping to suit. Or you can go the expensive route of stand alone management, internals, etc.

Have a browse around Club lupo and club polo, the SC conversion has been done a few times now on the 1.4 and 1.6 which are basically the same engine

If everyone had that mentality no one would mod cars. Of course theres always something faster, better handling, etc but nothing beats building something (and in this case hearing the SC whine away!)

I got the 1.4 100ps aswell so if you manage to find a result for a decent price with good power increases I may go down the same route... :p

Youve posted pretty much exactly what I was gonna type

At the end of the day anything is possible with the right amount of cash and time, never discount an idea, and dont listen to anyone who says buy an FR or a cupra, if you have an idea and the time and money, do it!! At least your being original ;)

I'm sorry but this thread sounds awesome.

I'd love to see a supercharger in a 1.4!
Mine's the 75bhp version lmao, so some time in the future a supercharger or turbo would be pretty nice...

Hope you can get this done - if you do make a video of the sound!

I'm gunna be ringin a few places today to see if they would be interested in the project and how much it will cost etc.

I've been lookin at a 1.4 16v supercharged lupo on the clublupo forum and theres a guy on there with one, 180bhp with an Eaton s/c, standard map and some bits off a 2.0 16v golf, apart from that its pretty standard, engine wise anyway ;)

surely it would be the same for the ibiza as its pretty much the same engine. I know its not gunna be a cheap job and its gunna take a while lol

but it'll all be worth it in the end, to have something different, i know people say save and buy an fr or cupra etc but if that was the case then we'd all have the same car.

i'll keep you all posted if i find out some info.

Cheers
