I have an Ibiza Chill 1.4, it won't start and is fuel/electrical related. I have just put a new engine in from an identical car as the big end shells went on mine during a 400m trip, luckily I was 10 minutes away from home when it went. It didn't have any fuel left in when the new engine went in so I put 20l of fuel in the car and it started straight away but woudn't start again. I turn on the ignition and fuel pump does not start up and my fuel gauge doesn't move. I have put a live feed to the pump and it works but the gauge still doesn't and the car will not fire up. I have poured fuel into the throttle body and the engine starts. Quick replies would be greatly appritiated as I need my car

First off there is no point in pouring fuel into the throttle butterfly remember this isn't a carb setup and will do the cat no good, if the fuel pump is working with the live feed attached will the engine start with this in place?

Only poured fuel into throttle to see if the engine runs as the fuel tank was cracked on the other car resulting in no petrol. The car still doesn't start when the live feed is attached. I am thinking that the only thing it can be is that at some point I have nicked a wire somewhere but I haven't yet checked it all.
