Hi All,

Looking for any advise on a compression issue. I have had my Ibiza 1.4 Formula Sport for just over a year. It is a 57 plate with just under 70,000 on the clock. On Monday I stated my engine for it to come on at a very low rev then fizzle out. Since I have been unable to start but know its not the starter motor etc as turns over fine just don't ignite. My friend had tested compression. Cylinders 1-3 are good but 4 gave a very low reading of around 50-70 but also does not hold a vacuum and quickly drops back to zero. I am looking for any suggestions as to what my issue could be or more some reassurance. I am no mechanic but on speaking with a few people and looking up most are directing me that it could be a head gasket or even worse I may need a new engine. I am currently trying to decide what to do. Crash money to fix or scrap. I really do not wish to scrap as I have yet to get my money worth out of this car.

Any thoughts or suggestions as to what could have lead to this issue are extremely appreciated.

Just a dry test buddy, it was at daft o'clock to be fair. Trying to get hold of my m8 again to ask if he can get a proper look but hard to get hold of. I am in no way mechanical minded so getting really annoyed its sitting in my parking space lol..

Thanks for the advice, once I get hold of him and get a proper look I will update my thread. Could it be in any way lined to the EGC valve?
