Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice diagnosing a power steering issue on my 2015 SEAT Ibiza 1.2 petrol.
The positive battery cable was corroded, which was preventing the alternator from charging the battery properly. I have now repaired the charging issue, but the power steering is still not working and the steering is very heavy.
The car starts and runs normally, but I have warning lights on the dashboard relating to the steering, ESC and TPMS.
Diagnostic details:
Vehicle: 2015 SEAT Ibiza 1.2 petrol
Main symptom: Loss of power steering; steering is very heavy
Previous issue: Corroded positive battery cable causing a charging fault
Current status: Charging issue repaired, but power steering fault remains
Fault code: U101D00
Other symptoms: Steering, ESC and TPMS warning lights illuminated
I’m trying to work out the best place to start diagnosing this. Could the previous low-voltage condition have caused the power steering system to shut down, or could there be an issue with its power supply, earth connections or fuses?
Would it be worth checking the steering control module for additional fault codes before considering a faulty steering rack or power steering motor?
Has anyone come across this issue on a similar Ibiza? Any advice on diagnostic steps or common causes would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
