My stripped out Lupo Sport (100bhp) has run a 15.6 @ 88 and a 15.6 @ 86. Last time I went though It's running 15.9's @ around 83mph. Hoping it's to do with the heat.

I know it's not fast but I love the 1/4 mile. Last year I took my mk5 golf gti and it was running 13.9 @ 102. but I've sold it now.. :(

Looking at perhaps buying a Ibiza Cupra (TDI) so very interested in this thread to see the sort of times you guys are getting. :)

Flapper any idea where i can find the rules for the vw classes etc

Thanks.

went on strip at inters yesterday, had to come home earlier cosn wasnt feeling to great

unfortunatly i didnt do to well, it cost me 20quid just to get 4 runs in, unlike pod where u have to queue it was pretty flowing but i just didnt want to spend more than 20quid on the strip

so the excuses...30degrees heat, crap smic, burnt arms, bad heyfever, new clutch, all my camping stuff in boot, i could think of more if i wanted

anyway 15.1 was top number of the day, along with 15.3, 15.4 and 15.9, there was room for further improvement i put it down to the main 2 excuses the heat, it was a very hot day and iv got a deep red t-shirt sun tan to prove it, the car was just bogged down, driving through the lanes one the way home in the evening the car felt much quicker.

and then my new clutch, its done 360miles now, and that includes 120miles each way to the show, its so light compared to what i was used to so was abit novice with my launches, the 15.9 i didnt even launch it, just sort of poured of the line and got beat by a Golf diesel which i matched later in the sprint and started reeling it in but the launch spoilt it, 0-60 in 7.9s. the other runs had abit more revs and so the launches were ok but i still didnt crack 0-60 in under 7.3s

so there we have it, my revo'd ibiza 15.1, still lots left in it for improvement but i think i need an fmic to crack 15s in the summer months

from what i can tell it's bracket racing - you dial in a time you will do and as near to it as possible without going faster wins

not as exciting as heads up but means you can put a std polo 1.2 on the track next to a fully tuned golf Vr6 and technically still win

http://www.eurodragster.com/sprc/ is best place to start as im sure its them that organise the VW Sportsman class - take at look at the entry forms it will show who you need to speak to anyway

NB- IF you ever start running 10sec or lower  note you'll need serious modifications to the body but believe me its harder than you think

Another update of my time mate, still not cracked that 13 sec barrier but i'm edging towards it. new personnel best of 14.051sec @102.5mph.

Need to go on a diet i think:redface:

Yeah it was a good day apart from the hour or so when it rained, lots of golfs from the uk-mkivs forum.

My brother got a few 15.7's in his polo gti, quickest N/A GTI over the 1/4 mile in the UK i think??

Allen's Toledo(STAR MAP) was getting low 14's!! SLEEPER!!
