1.4 TSI ACT 150 - Oil Leak

Hi Guys, anyone had a oil leak on a 1.4 ACT, my car is currently at seat, it went it for a rattle on the boot, and they found what they call a serious oil leak, I had noticed a couple of drops on the drive, but I put it down to the plumbers old van which was parked there :rolleyes:


I have been given a mii 3 door as a courtesy car, which I'm not impressed with.

Also not impressed at a car that's less than 2 months old and less than 2000 miles on to be dropping oil and apparently not safe to drive according to the dealers!

Anyone else had something similar?!?!
 
I've had mine since September and no issues like that, you may just have been unlucky!

But being given a Mii... That's rubbing salt in the wounds! I'd kick off and ask for a Cupra! ;)
 
There was someone a while ago who had a leak after a service, the sumo plug hadn't been tightened properly.

Sounds like bad luck just :(
 
Unfortunately block paving is quite porous so you may find that after you've cleaned it, it will return a few days later as the oil rises to the cleansed surface. (Speaking from experience)
 
I have had an oil leak on my cupra 280.
SEAT replaced the crank shaft oil seal and thought it was sorted.
Unfortuatly I have got the car re-booked in due to a small amount of oil still forming on the screw heads that hold the sump on!
Mine has only done 9k miles - its not what you expect from a new car.
If you do find a good solution to removing oil from block paving im all ears. Im thinking about moaning to SEAT after the oil leak has been fixed to get them to pay for a professional clean, although I know I will probably be wasting my time.
 
How long did it take to replace the cam shaft seals?

I have used some swafega oil and grease drive way cleaner which was left by the previous owners of the house, its taken most of the marks up, but still left with some and still feel the oil on the drive in places, its relatively new /clean oil so I think that makes it better,

Apparently rain will eventually clean the drive....not sure how many years that will take

The SEAT garage had my car for a week, but most of that was waiting for the new seal to arrive.
Im thinking it may now be the actual sump seal/gasket? I will (hopefully) find out the next time its in on the 27th. I hate the hassle.
Has the garage said what they think is the cause yet?

It hasn't gone back into the workshop for further investigation yet apparently :cry:, but they mentioned the cam shaft

After speaking to the robot woman on seat customer care yesterday who said they cant get me a replacement car.... I asked to speak to someone more senior, who rang me back today....I then had a call from the replacement team and they are sourcing a replacement like for like car which will be delivered tomorrow morning :D
 
Good news about the like for like replacement - Chances of me getting a replacement cupra are slim!
 
the only gripe I had about my dealer was the Mii I got as a courtesy car when I left them a 184FR ST....
re the drive - you're stuffed, I think.
I've had some from my old car, visitors etc.
used all sorts, including specific oil remover, but it just stains the paviours, Jet wash didn't remove it, but left a much bigger area a slightly different (lighter) shade.
if it irritates that much try changing the stained blocks...is that practicable?

Try using dry cement powder, it should absorb some of the oil, you may have to try a couple of times but it will take the majority of oil out. Don't leave it on the blocks though, brush off with a stiff brush and then jet wash, it has worked for me on a few occasions when fat and grease from a barbecue spat on the patio, also when I was trying to take a Karcher pump apart and some of the hydraulic oil spilled much to SWMBO disgust.
 
Well I have had a Octavia delivered, its OK far better than the mii,

Got 99% of the oil off the drive too, so let's see how long it takes to fix it....
 
Got the car back today, hopefully all fixed, took 8 hours to change the can shaft seal, glad it was under warranty!!

Parked it the other way round on the drive to see if it leaks again!!
