Hello, just traded in the missus Ibiza 1.6 Sport SC for a Leon 1.4 TSI Sport as we need a bigger car with a baby on the way.
Its a 10 plate, just out of Seat warranty but has a 3 month warranty from the dealer, is there any major common faults or problems I should be looking for within the 3 months?

These are a bl00dy good car (im biased tho as I have one)

just a small point - check the tyres for uneven wear, even if the tyres are OK, ask if its had the Hunter 4 wheel alignment done.

open the bonnet and check for mould on the bonnet soundproofing, if its mouldy, then ask if the scuttle panel leak issue has been fixed (common problem with all mk2's)

Nothing you need to know dude, APART FROM THE FACT.............

THERE BLOODY AWSOME :)

Great car, iv had my 08 plate for a year and 7 months now with no problems at all, i got it with 10,000 on her, she now has 49,000 and nothing is wrong at all she runs like a dream :)

Very happy with mine too, no problems to report. They are quite rare as most people seem to go for the diesels but I think the TSI is a great all-rounder and drives really well. Should feel a fair bit quicker and more relaxed than the Ibiza.

Ex Rental by the sounds of it.

No not at that age, most rental fleets these days only keep their cars for 6-12 months. This will be ex-contract hire if its registered to VWFS so should have just had the one driver. I vaguely remember seeing a White Leon 1.4 TSI Sport on a 10-plate listed for auction at BCA the other week. The vendor was VWFS so could be the same one but I've forgotten the registration unfortunately.

Avis kick the arse out of the age... Last time I was renting a lot of cars week in week out from Avis they were all 2.5yrs old creeping to 30k

Ex rentals are usually the best, ok had the bollox ragged out of them but them sort of cars last the longest. I would prefer to have one of them cars then one thats been driven 30mph every where by an old woman.

Hope it wasnt a rental as I know how I treat them! I doubt it though, as the bodywork was very good with only 1 bad mark on an alloy that there sorting for me. No point in me checking the tyres, as the fronts are brand new. There also doing the rear bads and giving it a service. Will check under the bonnet for mould, cant say I noticed anything when checking for leaks etc on the engine though.
It is white, so probably the same one from the auction.

Perhaps they knew what you were going to do to them ..... ;)

Had an 08 plate 1.4 Tsi Reference Sport from new ran it till it was traded in for an FR in 2010, no problems other than air con (fixed under warranty, pressure sensor iirc ) great engine

Picked up Thursday and have to say im well impressed, more so than I expected. The cars a brilliant drive, even when pushed.
Had to get the aircon recharged, and the left vent has broken slats so will be getting onto the garage about that, all else seems good.
Tempted to go look at a Cupra R for myself now, haha.

Glad you're pleased with it! It's an awesome little engine and really punches well above its weight. Far nicer than the old non-turbo petrols and preferable to a diesel too IMO :)

This thread makes good reading for me; I'm picking one of these up tomorrow after work (same reason as Joe, baby on the way and needed something more practical / economical). :D

Simon; what sort of gains did you see from the Revo map? Worth doing...?
