1.4tsi Cupra Random Misfire

Hey all

Need a little bit of help diagnosing what is causing this misfire

I have read over lucifers guide but nothing in there seems to tie in with the misfire that I am getting

I have had the car around two months now, no issues when I first bought it. Car has done 82k miles and is a CAVE engine

I have the "normal" rough running on cold start, this then seems to go away once the car has dropped down to 750rpm

When giving the car a hard time it misfires between 6k and 7.2k in third and fourth gear, Eml light comes on sometimes but nothing is being logged, also when cruising at around 3k to 3.5k it sparidically misfires.

Last week I left the engine running and opened the bonnet started juggling pipes and cables to see if I could get it to misfire at idle. Eventually it did and I can now make it misfire by jiggling the n80 valve.

This doesn't happen all the time and the car pulls like train most of the time.

Car is running on vpower, has had 4 new coils and new plugs (NGK 7IEX's)

Anyone have any ideas?

Try the Briskoda forum.

I'll give my full impressions (on a separate thread) when I've done some more miles and some faster driving.
On holiday in Yorkshire at the moment with the dog in the car so just steady driving,so for now I'll just say impressions are favourable!

Put R8 Coils, thats the best way to fix random missfires at high rpms. If you have a bigger turbo the problem could be the spring valves, you need stiffer springs.
